Set photos from the early days of filming for Marvel's much-anticipated Thor: The Dark World had the first look at the God of Thunder's new threads, donned by Chris Hemsworth once again. While we only had a distanced glimpse then, a new mysterious photo has surfaced from the set offering a closeup on the Asgardian armor, donned by famous stuntman Bobby Holland Hanton. Check it out!

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo & Anthony Hopkins as Odin, “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, from a story by Don Payne (credit not final) and screenplay by Christopher Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (credit not final) and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery” #83 in August, 1962. “Thor: The Dark World” is presented by Marvel Studios. The executive producers are Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Craig Kyle and Nigel Gostelow. The film releases November 8, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

In addition to “Thor: The Dark World”, Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on more iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on April 4, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel (title TBA) on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

Nice. I've always loved the sleeveless costume - it now looks even better with that new Viking-ish touch. I hope it will appear more frequently in the movie.

Weird. I thought Hemsworth would do his own stunts for the movie. Oh well.

Sleeveless costume + Cape + Helmet = Classic.

Now that he's going to stick around the Realms, here's to hoping he'll don the helmet at least for once in action.

Jaysus, with the veins and all he actually looks almost exactly like the way Thor is being drawn in those new issues.

Also, Im loving the fact the Asgardian armour looks like ACTUAL armour now. Taylor more than likely brought that about.

It looks more metallic and rigid, as opposed to stylised kevlar.

Also YAY for the six discs finally looking like METAL. Always thought they looked a bit rubbery :)

As much as I would love to see Thor don the winged headgear, I'm beginning to think the helmet at the coronation ceremony is all we're ever going to see and was put there as a homage to the comic. If you watch the deleted scenes they kind of even poke fun at it.

I'm not sure why Loki can sport the reindeer gear but Thor can't sport his own. It probably looks dorky in live action or makes Hemsworth's head look too big.

Look at Cap. It's been a struggle to get his helmet to look right. Originally they were going to go with the ears out look for Cap's suit in the Avengers but then the producers decided it didn't work. I wish we could see some pics of what that looked like. I'm thinking Evans needs the chinstrap to really pull off the look. The TFA look was fantastic.

Looks great! Like it's lifted straight from the comics!

By the way people, stop complaining about the helmet. He's most likely not gonna wear it. Get over it.

I still think that suit is from a flashback, but I hope not, it's very cool.

It just looks more viking age than the other suits, the hair also seem to suggest that.

Looks great. That dude kinda fits for the role better than Hemsworth. Maybe because he doesnt look as young and pretty as Chris.

Ps. Helmet -_-

@AlexDeLarge87 - Well Thor is considered very "pretty" and handsome in the comics by most female characters, I don't know where people get the idea that Thor is some big ugly brute.

Even other heroes call him stuff like "pretty boy" and "goldilocks", Hercules is even jealous of how the ladies swoon over Thor.

BlackFlash
BlackFlash - 11/7/2012, 9:55 AM
I'm sorry but the little bit we got of him wearing the helmet in Thor was terrible, it just didn't look right. The posters made it look better then it is and that was mainly due to the lights and angles they used.
NoAssemblyReqd
NoAssemblyReqd - 11/7/2012, 10:03 AM
I like that this armor looks suited for battle rather than ceremony. I generally liked Thor's armor in T1 and AVENGERS, but I never thought it was very practical.
Cosmic1
Cosmic1 - 11/7/2012, 10:05 AM
I'd like to see the helmet at least once in the sequal, it would look better than the girly hair he's been sporting lately, long hair is ok but it looks a bit gay the way it's been done in the last few images.
