Orci and Kurtzman Return to Transformers

Orci and Kurtzman Return to Transformers

But this time, it is not for the big screen!

That's right folks, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, the writers for both of the Transformers films, are back in the game. But not in the way that you might think. They are not involved with the third film at all. They are not even writing for the bots anymore.

No, they are going to be the executive producers for the next Transformers animated series. And here is the kicker: the series will be CG-animated!

This news was mentioned on the Hollywood Reporter website but the article that was cited only gave a mention of it. But Tformers got the scoop from them and they have been EXTREMELY reliable about information dealing with anything Transformers. And this is what they had to say:

"According to the entertainment website, the screenwriters responsible for the Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will be executive producers on the Transformers: Prime, the show debuting on Hasbro Inc. and Discovery Networks' The Hub in fall 2010.

The article also reports that the show will be 'CG-animated.' Whether the design follows the Transformers Armada, Energon, and Cybertron era or the Beast Wars, Beast Machines era (this reporter crosses his fingers for this version) was not specified.

The name of the show Prime was revealed by Jeffrey Combs on a post in his website, where he also revealed that he has been cast as Ratchet."

So, let's recap:

1)We have the name of the show, Transformers: Prime. Hopefully it could kind of an origin story about the birth of the Transformers and their descent into civil war.

2) The dynamic duo, Orci and Kurtzman, are executive producers on said show. Don't know if this is good or bad news yet. They are very talented writers and I am sure that you all will vent your opinions down in the Comments section anyway.

3) Jeffrey Combs has been cast as Ratchet. Mr. Combs played the voice of The Question on Justice League Unlimited. He also played in the film, he frighteners as Special Agent Milton Dammers. So, this guy could work to bring some experienced talent to the show.

All in all, I am PRIMED to see this show. (Pun Intended!)

I remember being a kid and enjoying Transformers: Beast Wars...I'm sure animation will be much better now. This could be good!

the most recent Transformers cartoons have been so awful that I nearly convinced myself that the 80s cartoons were actually awful and I was just a stupid kid.

Transformers Armada and Transformers Energon make Beast Wars look like Shakespeare

Jeffrey Combs has also been in every incarnation of the Star Trek TV Series (Except TOS. I don't even remember who Ratchet was...I keep mixing him up Wheeljack in my head.

@Anil Rickly

I thought the same the same thing about Transformer Animated, but stuck with it. Once the story arc came out, it actually got kinda interesting to watch...that's not to say it was good, I really miss Beast Wars and Beast Machines!

@Jimdlux Ratchet is the ambulance. And I agree with you about the Transformers Animated, if you could get past the crap animation the story wasn't to bad.

There ought to be a law against CG "cartoons".

I love G1 and Beast Wars, Beast Machines was ok... but the best thing about those shows was it was all in continuation, everything else doesn't go together they are just reboots of the original. they are good just not in comparison.

Conceptually and story-wise, G1 is the best, IMO. I also am aware of the bias I have since that was the one I was exposed to first. There were some contradictions in the show, but nothing that couldn't be hammered out. I didn't read the comics so I don't know what direction they took, but I hope G1 is the feel and story that they go with making. Hopefully we don't get stuck with GM only. So basically, the rendering I am hoping to see is an updated version of my childhood show! :)
