THE WALKING DEAD's David Morrissey Would Love To Reprise The Role Of The Governor

The Governor was one of the most popular characters to come to life on AMC's The Walking Dead, and now actor David Morrissey has revealed that he'd like to return to the role someday. More past the jump.

Long before Negan swung onto our screens in The Walking Dead, there was another name to fear.

The Governor, played by Actor David Morrissey, was introduced in Season 3 of the popular zombie series and made his presence felt by bringing seriously intense scenes to an already tense world. Although the character didn't survive past Season 4, he made a huge impression on the show and its fans, and Actor David Morrissey would love to revisit the eye-patch wearing villain if at all possible.

I've often said I'd make the tea for them if they asked me because it was a wonderful experience, and it's a show made by fantastic people, really talented people. And you want to work with those people.

Of course, The Governer is dead, so if Morrissey were to reprise the role it would have to be in a prequel or maybe a movie similar to the ones Andrew Lincoln has signed on for after leaving the show himself.

As I say, I love the world, I love the genre, I love the character, so if the powers that be deem it right to do it, I would love to. Sometimes you walk away from a job and you think, 'I'm finished with this character." Whereas the Governor, I don't feel that. There's a lot more to mine, I think.

What do you think of Morrissey's comments? Would you like to see him return as The Governor in a prequel film of sorts? Let us know below!

The Walking Dead is an American post-apocalyptic survival series featuring a large ensemble cast of survivors of the zombie apocalypse, trying to stay alive from the near-constant threat of attacks from the mindless zombies, colloqially known as walkers. However, with the fall of humanity these survivors also face conflict from other living survivors who have formed groups and communities with their own sets of laws and morals, often leading to hostile conflict between the human communities.

The Walking Dead airs on AMC on Sunday nights at 9.

I met him at Walker Stalker Con in ATL last year. Super nice guy! Those first few years of TWD were my favorite, especially S3 with him in it. If they brought him back then they'd HAVE to include Merle too!

The show pretty much died when he did. Maybe a bit before.

He was a good Governor, though.

There are a couple novels (Rise of the Governor and The Road to Woodbury) that tell the sory of how Philip Blake becomes the Governor and how Woodbury is founded. This source material would be a good way to bring him back for one of those movies (or even a mini-series) that Scott Gimple has been talking about. I haven't had a chance to read them yet but my buddy said they are pretty good.

The Governor coming back in a miniseries could be interesting.
No place in the future seasons as hes dead.
Was indeed a good villain, slightly changed from the comics but good none the less.
The arc with the whispers is on the slow burn so cannot wait to see what happens.
Due to a busy homelife its the only show i get to watch and as it is i have to record it.

Nah, that story (and the show) is gone and buried. We already saw his backstory in a flashback episode. It's not worth revisiting.
