According to Deadline, British actress Hannah Waddingham has been cast as Jax-Ur on SyFy's Krypton.

Traditionally depicted as a man, Jax-Ur is an amoral but brilliant Kryptonian scientist who was sentenced to The Phantom Zone along with General Zod and the rest of his minions. This small-screen take on the character is described as having "deep ties to Krypton’s past, Jax-Ur is now determined to bring radical change to Krypton as leader of the underground terrorist organization, Black Zero."

Waddingham was primarily known for her work on the stage, but she'll be most recognisable 'round these parts for her small role as Septa "Shame Nun" Unella on Game of Thrones. She's also appeared in the likes of 12 Monkeys and In The Club.

Krypton is set to premiere on March 21.

This is Jax-Ur from STAS.

I like the equipment he comes with it, so if they keep that with the actress it'll look as close and as a homage as well to the roots of the character.

@JH24 - Haha I literally was about to post the same thing. She looks like her in 5 years.

Although I can't stand Kelly, I must say, she is quite beautiful.

Interestingly, I don't think Jax-Ur has ever been properly adapted from comics. In Superman TAS he was just Zod by other name. In Smallville we didn't get Jax-Ur, but Dax-Ur, the kryptonian scientist who invented Brainiac, and he was actually a good guy in that version. I know Mackenzie Gray's character in MOS was Jax-Ur, but did they actually mention his name at any point?

Jax must be a unisex name on krypton.
