LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Star Brandon Routh Opens Up On "Quick And Forced" Exit From The Series

Former Superman Brandon Routh isn't shying away from making his feelings known about his Legends of Tomorrow exit, as the actor has now shared his thoughts on his "quick and forced" Arrowverse departure!

Last night's Legends of Tomorrow featured the marriage of Ray Palmer and Nora Darhk, two characters played by real-life husband and wife Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford. The episode which was titled "Romeo V. Juliet: Dawn of Justness," also marked our farewell to their characters, something fans, and Routh himself, have responded negatively to.

TV Guide caught up with Routh shortly before his farewell aired, and it's not hard to read between the lines and see that the hunky former Man of Steel is disappointed with how it was handled.

"On one level, I'm happy [that Ray and Nora got married]," he revealed. "It's a future I did see for them so I don't think it's wrong that they're married," Routh told TV Guide. "But I think the journey to having it happen shouldn't have been forced. The exit is also very quick and forced, and so I have challenges with that on a personal level."

This is not the first time Routh has made his feelings known. Some might suspect that he has sour grapes about being informed he's no longer needed in Legends of Tomorrow, but it sounds like he just wanted a better exit for The Atom, something the show's fanbase will surely be able to relate to.

Given other recent remarks from the actor, it doesn't sound like a return to the Arrowverse to make things right is a major priority either, so this wedding is perhaps what we'll be forced to live with.

At least Ray Palmer didn't get trapped in the Microverse, and Nora didn't die. Happy endings for superheroes, is a hell of an accomplishment!😂 Trimming the cast, makes sense. There's a lot of characters on that show. And the show's future is kinda up in the air, anyway. According to IMDb, neither him or Courtney Ford has anything upcoming. But I like them both. I'm sure they'll figure it out.

@WAKANDABATMANFOREVER - okay, trimming the cast makes a lot of sense...but not two of the best actors in the show, playing great characters...I mean theres so many pointless characters in Legends, that stupid shapechanging chick, Mona, Gary (all 3 of them share something in common, stupid comedy characters that arent even based on DC characters!)...[frick] it even John Constantine seems pointless at this point (his Astra story could have played out in a proper standalone series that could have replaced Supernatural)

@FleischerSupes - the story has Dick recall lessons from his Dark Knight mentor

I imagine it starts with "Did I ever tell you the time that Superman made Jimmy Olsen marry a monkey?"

@Reeds2Much - Hahaha I have that cover on my desk at work. I love the ape is politely sticking out her finger for that ring, other hand gently on his shoulder, but also screaming in his face.
