*SPOILERS* DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED ON EPISODE 6*

I’m an avid Supergirl fan, I make no claim otherwise. Simply because the “Shield” means so much to me. This episode started out slow, with the overarching sub plots of Kara’s adopted father’s death, the Jimmy, Kara, Lucy love triangle, and of course the Kara getting out from SuperMAN’s shadow and her perception by the Government and the world. This also included General Lane, which the actor who I’m too lazy to look up always plays an excellent General (General Morshaw, in all the Transformers Movies). Regardless, this episode dived into some of the psychological aspects of Supergirl/Kara’s struggle between normalcy and Superhero and everything in between. More specifically her RAGE/ANGER, which I always find fascinating. There’s also a sub theme regarding “threat to national security” which I know we will see in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Nice little tie in that I appreciate. (Random point being a conservative, I find it very ironic that they referred to the President as “her,” do we really need to make this show political?) Anywho, moving right along, Cat’s mom subplot was annoying and it did move the story along and allow for Kara and Cat to bond, but annoying nonetheless. We then find out Supergirl has to fight RT or Red Tornado, which kinda looks like the BTS of Apocalypse from X Men, just saying. This is our first introduction to Supergirl’s rage. She gets knocked around a little bit, but makes quick work of RT, which is really no surprise. During the fight she ignores the DEO and whoops RT’s a$$. Which in turn, General Lane gets pissed and sets up the revenge sub plot for the RT creator as the antagonist of the episode. We then move to Kara and Cat having their sub plot and bonding experience. Cut to Maxwell Lord flirting with Alex over the leftovers from the RT and Supergirl fight. Then we head to dinner with General Lane, Lucy and Jimmy, in which General Lane scolds Jimmy “You’re not good enough blah blah blah.” Cut back to Kat and Kara bonding and getting drunk (well Kat is). Included in this is the diatribe about how women are always persecuted for certain actions that men aren’t. SIDE NOTE: As I write this, I’m really beginning to be annoyed with the liberal diatribe going on in this episode. WHY NOT JUST SCREAM VOTE FOR HILLARY! I digress sorry about that. This sets up another fight between SG and RT, SG wins after saving some civilians and everyone realizes that RT is really after General Lane for firing the RT creator. Viola, we have our conflict for the episode. (Curiously though: how does Supergirl have pierced ears?) General Lane, Lucy and SG are reviewing what’s happened and we find the fundamental conflict between Superman/Supergirl and even the Bat Family, and this is choosing to save innocents or as Lucy says “Using your humanity against you.” During this discussion we find out that RT was actually developed to fight Superman and Supergirl was the test to see how it goes. Now we go back to Alex and Maxwell for a surprise dinner and flirting. Maxwell lets Alex know that RT is being controlled by the inventor out of revenge. I love Peter F in the role of Maxwell Lord. Then we go to the Jimmy and Kara boxing class. We find out that Kara is really angry and she’s really just sad and that sadness turned into anger and rage after she hits a car so hard the tranny flies out from the force. We find out that Kara is really angry at being sent to earth away from her parents. This sets up my favorite part of the episode, not because Alex finds the RT creator while SG is fighting RT, but rather bc of the Rage shown by SG.

As the RT creator and RT are being defeated, we find out that RT becomes sentient and that SG has to find a way to stop it. This is the point where my hairs stood up. She uses her heat vision to try to stop RT, but he keeps advancing and as RT does, SG gets more mad and more mad and exhibits what I believe was keen to Superman in the death of Superman when he uses his heat vision on Doomsday. This was eerily awesome. During a fierce some yell we get flashbacks of her departure from Kansas. Where SG let’s out a crazy angry yell and destroys RT and collopases, if Melissa can bring that type of acting to the Season Finale, you’ve made me a 100% fan and disciple just throw a S on my shoulder.  This is probably one of the best scenes thus far (it’s definitely top 3 for me). It also made this one scene make the whole episode worth it.

(I took screenshots of the badass scene but I got error 302 when trying to upload them, so you'll just have to watch the episode)

The episode closes with Lucy resigning from the Army and Jimmy supporting her. We also find out the Daddy Danavers went down to South America with Hank Hanshaw. We also find out that Hank deleted the files depicting what happened to Alex’s father aka Dean Cain.

One thing that I really enjoyed seeing besides the above scene mentioned is the thought of fear.

Hank Hanshaw says “I once told you ‘there are people who fear your cousin,’ it’s not because he has god like powers, it’s because of what he might do to them if he ever lost his temper.” This concept is something that I am going to reflect on because I’ve never viewed it that way, it goes 100% with the first line in the BvS trailer from Holly Hunter’s character specifically “Today is a day for truth, the world needs to know what happened and what he stands for…that type of power is very dangerous”

Psychologically I love this episode, because it touches on BvS and pushes deeper into SG’s mindset. I took away a star for all the left wing women’s lib crap. All in all it’s 4/5
