Episode #50: “Mother’s Mercy”

Debut: SUNDAY, JUNE 14 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT)

Stannis marches. Dany is surrounded by strangers. Cersei (Lena Headey) seeks forgiveness. Jon is challenged.

Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne continues.

It stretches from the south, where heat breeds plots, lusts and intrigues, to the vast and savage eastern lands, where a young queen raises an army. All the while, in the frozen north, an 800-foot wall of ice precariously protects the war-ravaged kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men...all play the 'Game of Thrones.'

An original series based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series.

Game of Thrones returns June 14

No but she probably will be. I'd assume Martin OKs every major death or change to the books. Anyway, [frick] Stannis niw. I almost hope Ramsay kills the c*nt.

Two feelings:

1) [frick] Stannis!

2) Go Drogon!

Can't wait until the finale.

Boltons vs Baratheon. Who I want to win? Drogon, the white walkers and the poor little prostitute

@YafiszKhan You could've atleast put a spoiler alert for those who HAVEN'T read the books if you're speculating the events that may unfold...

Davos should return, realize what has happened to Shireen, and kill Stannis.

I think Stannis will triumph at Winterfell, only to have Brienne kill him. Davos most likely won't return in the finale.

I don't know man, this episode didn't disturb me, it's just TV, and I've travelled the world, stuff is real and unfortunate...but honestly, this show is starting to bum me out...I feel like my wheel is stuck in the snow, just spinning, let's get to the conclusion already...I'd love for this show to keep going, but I'm ready for it to end...even in the real world, no one losing this many people...whether it is Dtannis, Danerys, Snow or Cersei, someone just needs to win so we can move on...I think what irritated me was Danerys just leaving...so we are back to square one...Cersei is locked up, Stanbis is killing his kid to try once more, Jons about to be killed, and Ramsay would just be a waste of 6 years of watching television...over it dude...move on

I think this one matched last week in quality.

I never cry during tv shows. Never. But holy shit, this was so emotional. I held back tears during the burning and tears of joy during the battle. Dorne stuff was aweosme to, great stuff. I kinda liked Stannis, but no more. I want Brienne or someone to [frick]ing slit his throat. But Stannis will make it to the Iron Throne. The Red Woman has been correct with every one of her prophecies. Stannis will destroy the Boltons and then lay waste to what's left of the Lannisters in King's Landing. With the Lord of Light's blessing, nothing will stop Stannis.

I predicted Shireen would die in this episode, but I am no less saddened or heartbroken because of it. I'm Glad they kept the camera off of her, because that already tops my list of most traumatic things Game of Thrones has done to me. [frick] Stannis. But one pleaant suprise is that Jorah isn't dead. I was sure he was going to die, but the second he threw that spear I had no idea what was happening. That was insane, the entire battle. I imagine Dany will start from square one now, or her cabinet will soon find her. I'm really excited to see where her plotline takes her.

This episode mirrored the last in many ways. We got the two Stark sisters in each episode. The two magical beings, the Walkers and the Dragons got their spotlight in each episode. Each episode focused on one of the Lannister Twins. Last episode focused on the battle of the Walkers and Dany and company plotting. This episode focused on the battle of Mereen (and Drogon) and had Castle Black plotting. We also see a mirror between the Boltons and Baratheons this episode, as last episode focused on only the Boltons, and this one the Baratheons.

I like how the two biggest threats in the world (Dany+Dragons and the White Walkers) are often the most ignored. If everyone fought together, the threats could be subdued. But everyone is focusing on the Iron Throne or other irrelevant things.

I still stand by my point that Stannis will take over the throne, but not forever. For a season or two, sure. But Dany is to come to Westeros soon, and [frick] shit up.

Color me excited for everything. Wow.

This episode had me in tears, man I never believed Stannis would go low but that was low to the max. I was supporting him since he first appeared but FU!!!

@rormachine I completely agree with you.

@Batmanheisenberg I think he will come to Kings landing to only touch the iron throne but only to be killed by someone
