"WATCHMEN = COMIC MOVIE OF THE DECADE!!!"

I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree. This movie in no way shape or form even touched The Dark Knight.

I'm not saying that I didn't like it, because I did, but it had NOTHING on TDK. I apologize if its blasphemy, but anyone who really loved the book intricately had to be a little disappointed. IMO anyway, I know my word isn't the gospel, but I consider my opinions pretty ripe with experience.

Yeah was funny enough..but it would have been better if they went really over the top, and had the nerds role around in her underwear or something

OM F'n G I would so be one of the 30 somethings dressed as Swamp Thing...

"but anyone who really loved the book intricately had to be a little disappointed."

Quite the opposite actually. There were scenes and nuances that I would have liked to have seen, but I am not disappointed they were not there. Much of what was different I found either neutral or better (not everything mind you, but a lot).

Even the squidlessness was redeemed by the changes in the New York aftermath scene with Silk Spectre and Doc M. It was emotional and heart-wrenching. Beautifully done IMO. Probably my favorite scene next to the Doc M speech on thermo-dynamic miracles. That scene was just plain [frick]ing brilliant! And don't even get me started on the Rorschach death scene!

10, maybe even 5 years ago, I might have said TDK was better, but I've gotten soft in my old age. Watchmen was the winner for me.

Truly though, I think it's just apples and oranges.

yes, i believe watchmen is without a doubt the best superhero movie of the decade. or at least the most creative. granted it's original form was created 25 years ago, but considering the movie brought a new artistic perspective to the story, i would say it is a winner over the dark knight by a long shot. the dark knight may have been gritty and realistic, but watchmen is the truest translation in the superhero genre. in essence it is a story about human responsibility, but on the surface, it's superheroes. also, the dark knight may have been the winner with critics and mainstreams, but few people who havnt read the book will understand what the story is about and it's not really the fault of the film makkers or writers, it's the fault of the audience. in my opinion, the most unique story ever created.

Bad news guys, in real life Malin is married.

I don't think she was on the toilet, although it would had been funnier if Malin was on the toilet taking a dump and the roomate and the nerds barged in on her.

@blacksword7 - I agree

Honestly, I think it's a matter of Watchmen contains many, many points that can apply to a person's everyday life. Many of these things people are just uncomfortable with. The general public doesn't want to go see a "superhero" flick to get a philosophy lesson. I think when they see the depth of what Watchmen offers, they get squirmish and decide they don't like it.

Whereas TDK, you get full on superheroism. Yeah, you can ask yourself questions like, "how far would you go to do the right thing?" But in the real world, we don't have to worry about being the DA in a mob infested corrupt city. Or have to choose which loved one to save from a homicidal clown.

We may, however, have to face that one of our parents is not someone we want them to be, or that our romantic partner is out of touch, or that we try to hide what we really want to be, that we blame someone else for our own path in life... The list goes on.

I think Watchmen just catches the mainstream off guard.
