Freeform Officially Renews CLOAK & DAGGER For A Second Season; Will Detective O'Reilly Transform Into Mayhem?

The first season of Freeform and Marvel's Cloak & Dagger is nearly over, and now the network has officially renewed the superhero drama for a second season and released an intruiging teaser for Season 2.

There are two episodes left in the first season of Marvel and Freeform's Cloak & Dagger, and during the show's panel at SDCC, it was officially announced that the show will receive a second season and a brief teaser accompanied the announcement.

Obviously, there was no footage in the teaser, but it did feature a line saying, "Season 2 will be mayhem," and there were claw marks that revealed a hazy green view of the city.

On its own, that line may just seem like a description to catch people's interest, but if you're familiar with the lore of Cloak & Dagger, then you know Detective O'Reilly dies in the comics and is reborn as the vengeance-seeking vigilante Mayhem. And one of her abilities is the ability to exude a green gas.

Clearly, this isn't confirmation that Emma Lahana's character will undergo a radical transformation, but the promo for episode 9 did see O'Reilly in danger and a recent death on the show gives her a good reason to seek revenge. Plus, the showrunner did tease more fantastical elements for Season 2

Either way, check out the teaser and artwork for Season 2, as well as a sneak peek for the final two episodes that features some nice nods to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

kinda odd for them to spoil whats going to happen to a o'reilly before the end of the season, but its awesome thats it coming back and the trailer for the final 2 episodes was great. and reading up on mayhem, her powers are pretty neat.

also it sounds like we will be getting season 2 before next summer.

@lemric - The teaser doesn’t really spoil it, but this article sure does.

Congrats, everything I've heard is that the show is good and fun and intriguing. And from some of the gifs the leads nail the roles, some side characters are also good.

I must binge watch this before the last 2 episodes air.
