James Gunn Thinks It's "Unlikely" Vin Diesel Will End Up Playing Black Bolt In THE INHUMANS

Guardians of the Galaxy star Vin Diesel has been teasing the possibility that he could play Black Bolt for years now, but James Gunn has weighed in on why he believes that's now highly unlikely...

Marvel Television and IMAX are spending a lot of money on The Inhumans, something which became clear when we learned that the eight part series will feature movie level visual effects. However, it doesn't sound like we should expect to see movie star like Vin Diesel in the show despite the fact that the Guardians of the Galaxy star has been campaigning for the role of Black Bolt for years now.

During a recent Q&A with fans on Facebook, James Gunn shared some thoughts on why he doesn't believe we'll see Diesel suit up as the leader of the Inhumans. "'The Inhumans' is going to be a TV show," he responded. "Unless Vin wants to take a huge pay cut and sign up to do a TV show it seems unlikely." That's not confirmation it won't happen, but the filmmaker gets a very good point here.

After all, no matter how much money is spent on The Inhumans, it's likely that the Fast & Furious lead makes more from just voicing Groot than he would from suiting up as Black Bolt. Of course, if he's passionate enough about the character, he'll make it happen regardless of the money. Then again, it's entirely possible that ABC and Marvel TV have someone else in mind. We'll have to wait and see.

It's a bit of a shame, I genuinely think he would make a great Black Bolt. I can't see him doing TV, so it'll be interesting to see who does end up in the role

@MrMurdock - Plenty of A listers do TV. I am sure he has plenty of dough so it wouldn't be a hardship and as long as IMAX are throwing money around maybe they pay some good talent to go with the SFX.

@MrMurdock - What exactly about Vin would make him a great Black Bolt because I don't see it. Not trying to be rude, just curious.

@MrMurdock - I hope they do Blackbolt right. Arguably he's one of the 10 most powerful beings in MCU. He can fly. He can transmute elements. He can argument his strength. Not to mention what happens he whispers. I hope we don't get a Luke Cage repeat where they only show the cheesy effect of bullets bouncing off him.

I really hope he doesn't do it.

When did Vin Diesel become an A list actor?

There's probably a couple dozen actors who could play this role better.
