Ever wonder what it's like to sit in a Marvel writer's room and try to figure out the best direction to take a beloved MCU character?

Loki season 2 directors Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson were guests on the Phase Zero podcast, where they provided an inside look at what it's like to develop a season (and potentially series) finale.

In plotting how to crack the season 2 finale, Moorhead stated [via The Direct], "One of the early days' discussions about how we're going to be treating the entire final episode, especially the last half of the final episode, we were actually looking at the Wikipedia for Loki - not the comic book character but the actual god - and he was the God of Stories."

He went on to add that Loki's new title started out as a small post-it note on a whiteboard that the producers brought to the writer's room. But it seems the Wikipedia research and seeing the name on the whiteboard was taken as a sign to zero in on having Tom Hiddleston assume that role.

"And, when we looked up at the Whiteboard that Tom and Kevin [Wright] the producer brought us in to see, it had written God of Stories. It was just a little note somewhere, and we really really latched on to that...And so we feel like somebody who is the God of Mischief, he's the God of Chaos and trickery and all of that, has transformed into - I wouldn't even say the god of time - I would say he's the god of everyone's story, and he's a librarian that protects it and allows it to flourish."

If you're looking for information on how Loki became the God of Stories in the pages of Marvel Comics, then you want to start with Al Ewings 2014, 17-issue run on Loki: Agent of Asgard. During Ewing's run, Loki gains the ability to traverse the multiverse, where he uses his powers to reshape his fate and change the outcome of some of his most dastardly deeds and defeats.

One has to believe that with the Multiversal Saga seemingly headed to a big showdown with Kang the Conqueror and his many variants, we'll see Tom Hiddleston's Loki at least one more time.

However, the actor is a Marvel veteran at this point and has given separate interviews implying that his time in the role is done and in other conversations, all but confirming that he'll be back and even reunite with Chris Hemsworth's Thor.

Do you think Hiddleston's Loki will return at some point during the Multiversal Saga? Let us know in the comment section below.

Loki Season 2 Official Synopsis: Loki Season 2 picks up in the aftermath of the shocking season finale when Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority. Along with Mobius, Hunter B-15 and a team of new and returning characters, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose.

Loved Loki's character arc, the way everything came together was great.

He's definitely the god of everybody's story. Feels like pretty much all of Norse Mythology happened due to Loki doing a (mischievous) thing because he was bored.

Also, good thing using Wikipedia as a source as it is a really solid source imo. It has a the certain degree of peer review and a ton of references & cited sources. And all that for free.

Wonder if they also read about the Norns on Wikipedia though.

@bkmeijer1 - As long as you go there knowing in advance it may not be entirely accurate it can be a great place to start at least as fully reliable sources on mythology can be a heavy read to get the nuggets you want.

@Apophis71 - yeah, it's a good place to start. Everybody can edit it (although it gets factchecked a lot too), so it's not 100% reliable.

Whenever I do use Wikipedia as a source, I actually use the cited sources instead. And only the cited sources I myself again have verified (like is it peer-reviewed, how much is it cited in other works, how recent it is, etc.)

@bkmeijer1 - For sure and esp with ancient mythology which can be extremely confusing and contradictory at times due to evolution and absorption of other mythologies over time. I have about 40 HUGE books on all that stuff, at least 5 JUST on Germanic mythologies, but tend to go to wikipedia first to remind myself or for gods I'm less familiar with before diving back into those, lol.

@Apophis71 - that's actually pretty cool you have all those books on the shelf. Any recommendations which I definitely should get?

Could use them as I plan to build out my bookcase, and I want some books of mythology on there. First ones I plan to get are the Edda and Odyssey/Iliad.

@bkmeijer1 - I'd need to dig them out to get the titles, not got the new bookshelves up yet after decorating, lol

@Apophis71 - only if they immediately spring to mind they're worth recommending. Guess we both got some decorating to do

@bkmeijer1 - I'm 52, I can't remember my own birthday half the time, lol, but the best ones have long ass names and for the life of me can't remember who wrote them. Think the last one I purchased was like 20yrs ago, then get a bunch of others as gifts :D

@bkmeijer1 - Actualy there is one I was gifted I can recall that I enjoyed reading.

Neil Gaiman's Norse Mythology

Been tryin to think of the couple of more encyclopedic books that tend to be my main go to so overlooked thinking about that one, there was another I enjoyed that was gifted called 'The Viking Spirit' think it was by McCoy (may have spelt that wrong but it popped back in my head cos an old Trek episode just came on) .

I have a few different ones specificaly on Edda but unsure which is best or exact title/authors other than at least one has poetic Edda in the title, one prose Edda (which is a separate thing to the poetic) which are both direct translation so probably a case of take your pick on an Amazon seatch for those if after that sort of thing TBH and one the complete collection or guide to or some such and covers the Edda's but more general about ancient myths etc of Northern Europe and includes one of the ones I was trying to remember.

However worth reading the The Saga of the Volsungs and The Sagas of Icelanders in regard to Norse/Germanic managed to find which ones of those I have cos recognised the covers on a search...

All my Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Asian etc etc are all just encyclopedia sorts so A to Z of this, complete guide to that, compendium of the others types (other than one each of a direct translations of the Odyssey and the Iliad) and probably better ones out there since they were publish 20 or more years ago :D

@bkmeijer1 - Oh, and we have a load of Pagan and Wiccan stuff that is my wifes but they have been loaned out temporarily whilst we were decorating to my daughters best friend who kinda been a second daughter to us since they met in primary school over 20yrs ago and as not actualy mine anyway wouldn't have a clue what they are called even tho I bought some of them for her and probably not the sort of stuff your after.

@Apophis71 - thanks. And don't sell yourself short, that's already quite a few solid recommendations. It puts me in a good direction. Especially the Gaiman ome sounds interesting.

Fantastic second season. I never thought a sci-fi-based Loki show would work, but it really does.

I actually thought season 1 wasn't that great. Depowered Loki and a lot just seemed too goofy.

I thought season 2 was great. The final episode ended perfectly.

I think the MCU still has big plans for Loki. Hiddleston is so perfect for this role.

Reminder: This [frick]ing guy was gonna kill some poor old man in cold blood merely because the old fellow told him kindly to piss off.

Loki changing to good never [frick]ing made sense in the MCU. It never made sense in the comics, either, but at least those had the excuse of the original (aka the best) version of Loki dying during Siege and later being reborn. This Loki just went from a space Hitler to a goofball without any proper development, let alone a mechanical explanation within the story.

Also, using a comic which clearly uses MCUfied Loki is hilarious. It's like giving yourself a BJ.
