LOKI Spoilers: The God Of Mischief's New MCU Role May Have Been Revealed And It's A Game-Changer

A combination of leaked promo art and yesterday's mid-season trailer has led to speculation online that Loki season 2 is set to give the God of Mischief a crazy new role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

With only two episodes of Loki left, theories and speculation about how the series will end are all over social media. Over the weekend, some promo art surfaced showcasing the God of Mischief's new costume and, after yesterday's mid-season trailer, some fans are beginning to piece this puzzle together. 

As you can see in the post below, those green tendrils of energy flowing throughout the Multiverse appear to be emanating from Loki and his new costume. 

The Asgardian also seems to be in He Who Remains' Citadel at the End of Time (look at the glowing cracks on the steps), suggesting Thor's adoptive brother will ultimately take Kang's place as ruler of, not a singular Sacred Timeline, but the entire Multiverse. 

We're sure there will be more to it than that - we're curious how it happens and what it means for the Multiverse Saga moving forward - though this is still a game-changing move. It's also a strong indication Loki will be a crucial part of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. 

Don't forget, He Who Remains wanted Loki to take his place after growing tired of keeping an eye on the Sacred Timeline. That wish now looks set to become a reality, though Loki wouldn't be Loki if he didn't do things his way (and in this case, it could be allowing the Multiverse Saga to flourish).

Loki season 2 will pick up in the aftermath of the shocking season finale when Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority. Along with Mobius, Hunter B-15 and a team of new and returning characters, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose.

The series stars Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Rafael Casal, Tara Strong, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, Neil Ellice, with Jonathan Majors, Ke Huy Quan and Owen Wilson.

Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Dan Deleeuw and Kasra Farahani direct episodes. The Head Writer is Eric Martin.

The first four episodes of Loki season 2 are now streaming on Disney+.

@FireandBlood - Imagine if this becomes the running gag of the MCU. In every saga, some version of Loki finds redemption but is ultimately killed by the big bad.

I don't like any of this. Trying to turn Loki into a hero through all this multiverse nonsense just doesn't work for me.

@DocSpock - Arguably, this doesn't make him a hero at all to become the He Who Remains. It's very GREY area as he has to make calls that are neither good or bad. Genocide and death and sadness etc will still be apart of the timeline that ultimately he would approve for the sake of the flow. When you think about that, it's very LOKI. Complex grey area.

If y'all are up to date on your comic lore, Loki is the God of Stories now, meaning he can pretty much manipulate the course of history going forward to his whim. Maybe that's the route they're taking.

How can one [frick] up such a basic character as Loki? The MCU have glassed over or completely changed things that are integral to his character, such as him being the father of the three monstrous children *HELA IS HIS DAUGHTER, NOT SISTER HE NEVER MET, MCU) and would bring on the Ragnarok as the villain, but then made up complete bullshit that has no precedent in the comics.

You gave him a made-up girlfriend who is merely a female version of himself when in the comics he has a [frick]ing wife that you could've given him since he was first introduced.

God, I wish for that reboot to come sooner.
