We didn't expect Moon Knight to be Marvel Studios' first Disney+ series of 2022, but after that intense first teaser, we cannot wait to explore the supernatural side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While recent comic books have portrayed the unhinged anti-hero as a vigilante akin to characters like Daredevil and Batman, this show promises to explore Marc Spector's ties to Ancient Egypt. He was essentially a monster-hunter of sorts during his early Marvel Universe appearances, hence why Moon Knight first showed up in the pages of Werewolf-by-Night #32 way back in 1975.
This take on the character has led to some changes to his costume, which can be seen clearly on another piece of merchandise for Moon Knight (via Hot Topic). It's a fun take on the hero and one we hope to see stick around rather than Marc getting a typical superhero suit.
The series follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.
Moon Knight stars Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy. Mohamed Diab and the team of Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead directed the episodes (there's no mention of George Clooney). Jeremy Slater is the head writer, and Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Mohamed Diab, Jeremy Slater and Oscar Isaac are the executive producers.
Moon Knight premieres on Disney+ on March 30.
