Marvel Studios' decision to change Kamala Khan's powers ended up dividing fans, though it's not exactly surprising that they didn't make the hero an Inhuman.
That would have required an awful lot of story to cram into Ms. Marvel, and we can thank Marvel Television for dropping the ball on ABC's Inhumans for those characters not being in the MCU. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness did recently introduce a Black Bolt Variant, but that doesn't appear to be leading anywhere for the time being.
Of course, Kamala did end up showcasing a new take on her classic Embiggening powers from the comics in last week's finale, and we'd later learn that she is, in fact, a mutant.
At the end of the episode, Bruno explained that while they know that the source of Kamala's power is from the bangle, there's something different about her genes compared to the rest of the teenager's family. He'd discovered a "mutation," and with that, the X-Men '97 theme played.
This moment along with several others is featured in these new stills from "No Normal." We also get to see more of Kamran in action and the Department of Damage Control as they close in on Ms. Marvel.
During a recent interview with The Direct, director Adil El Arbi weighed in on how Kamala's abilities are likely to develop moving forward. "I think, power-wise, we saw just the tip of the iceberg of Kamala Khan," he says. "I think there is so much more she can do, and on that front, I think there’s a big road for that, some more spectacular power."
We're hoping they return for a Ms. Marvel season 2 as that's something fans definitely want (fingers crossed for an announcement at Comic-Con or during Disney+ Day). For now, check out these newly revealed stills from the finale below:
