DEBUNKED: Marvel's RUNAWAYS: Is This Our First Example Of The Word "Mutant" Being Used In The MCU?

As the first season of Marvel and Hulu's Runaways winds down, the latest episode sees Molly Hernandez referred to as a mutant, seemingly marking the very first time the "M word" has been used in the MCU...

The first season of Marvel and Hulu's Runaways is racing towards its sure-to-be thrilling conclusion, but the penultimate episode, "Doomsday", is generating some buzz of its own.

The character of Molly Hernandez/Hayes (Allegra Acosta) is a mutant in the comics, but we had been under the impression that her origin would have be altered because of the whole Marvel/Fox rights situation - however, it looks like the show managed to slip the M word in there.

Okay, so Runaways is not a movie, but the show is still considered to be a part of the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe, so this is a pretty big deal.

This episode would have been shot before Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox's assets, so we're not sure about the legality of the situation. Is there some kind of loophole we're not aware of, perhaps? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place.

UPDATE: This image seems to be a fake. I haven't seen the episode in question, but by all accounts Molly is not actually referred to as a mutant, there's simply a mention of some mutated rocks that gave her superpowers.
