Marvel Studios' Runaways Set For A 2013 Release?

Marvel Studios' Runaways Set For A 2013 Release?

Although the news that broke last night seemed to hint at the movie being put on indefinite hold, Bleeding Cool have the details on when production will start as well as when it'll be released...

Yesterday evening, Deadline reported that, "Marvel simply has too much going on at the moment and will take its time on the live action adaptation." While many assumed that meant it would be a long time until work on the movie started, Bleeding Cool have learned that that's not the case and it wont be that long until the teenage superheroes make their way onto the big screen.

"But Bleeding Cool can very happily and exclusively reveal that this is not the case. The film still has a scheduled shoot, it’s just that the schedule isn’t as tight as it used to be. The production is now on the calendar for 2012 production, which will likely mean a 2013 release."

With Runaways more than likely one of Marvel Studios' lower budget pictures, it's not hard to believe that they could get it released that early but what of other rumoured projects like Black Panther and Doctor Strange? And will The Avengers be the only comic book movie from the studio in 2012? Be sure to share your thoughts about this news in the usual place!

LEE: It's crazy! However, I'm just hoping that Marvel will start working on sequels to Captain America and Thor ASAP so we get them in 2013 as well...not to mention all the other great characters that they've hinted at recently.

JOSH @ Well the more money they make from these movies... the more movies we will get!

This is why we need X-MEN, F4, DAREDEVIL, GHOST RIDER, SPIDER-MAN etc back at MARVEL!

The longer we have FOX (especially) ruining them... the more chance JOE PUBLIC wont even give a sh1T when we finally do get them back at MARVEL STUDIOS, to them its all the same, probably wont even want a third reboot and be bored by then, whenever then is!

Thats another reason I'm against reboots and especially the Prequel of a sh1t franchise X-men! (which is already [frick]ed up in their own twisted time-line X-movie verse, basically a reboot anyways lol, just not a proper X-MEN one)

Yeah I'd rather a NEW MUTANTS on the big screen by MARVEL, but thanks to [frick]ing FOX we wont see it!

I'll take what I can get from MARVEL lol.

I'm with LEE. It would be ideal to have Disney get everything back under the Marvel Studios umbrella.

And it's not just the fact that they will have the rights to do crossovers or a simple mention of one hero in another's movie. Those are bonuses to me.

The most important thing for me is that with Marvel Studios, the movies will be very well done. They won't try to screw things up. FOX and Sony seem to want to add their own take and direction to these characters, which deviates from the source material and we end up with things like Deadpool in the Wolverine film.

I'm looking forward to Runaways. I don't expect it to be on the epic level of other Marvel Studios films, but it should be a fun experience. One of my hopes is that they feature Cloak and Dagger, and I don't mean as simple cameos.

I think this would do so much better if it were a TV series rather than a motion picture. Thoughts?
