Following a series of coded clues, Marvel Studios has officially released the opening scene from Secret Invasion online, and the tense sequence might just reveal that an established MCU character has been replaced by a Skrull sleeper agent.

In the clip, we see Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) pay a visit to a fellow agent named Prescott (Richard Dormer), who tries to convince him that the Skrulls are mounting a massive-scale invasion of Earth. Ross is sceptical, but agree to take the information to Nick Fury.

At this point, it seems like something may have been cut to preserve spoilers, but the scene ends with Prescott tackling Ross to the ground. Did he notice something that led him to suspect Ross of being a Skrull, perhaps?

"In Marvel Studios’ new series Secret Invasion, set in the present day MCU, Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity."

The series stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Charlayne Woodard, Killian Scott, Samuel Adewunmi, Dermot Mulroney, Christopher McDonald, Katie Finneran, with Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, and Don Cheadle.

Ali Selim directs and executive-produces, along with fellow executive producers Kevin Feige, Jonathan Schwartz, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Samuel L. Jackson, Ali Selim, Kyle Bradstreet and Brian Tucker. Kyle Bradstreet is also the head writer, and Jennifer L. Booth, Allana Williams and Brant Englestein serve as co-executive producers.

Secret Invasion is set to premiere on June 21.

@marvel72 - Agreed. Having a tone similar to Winter Soldier is all I needed to hear to be sold on the project.

@GhostDog - Yep, I'm in. Don't want to spoil anything for those who want to go into it fresh, but just that clip alone left me with a bunch of interesting questions and already made me start to question who's who in this show. It will definitely be interesting to see what repercussions this will have on the larger MCU and if it's building toward something bigger, or if it's more self-contained. But either way if the rest of the show is like this opening clip it's definitely going to be one of those "edge of your seat rewind and watch that scene again" kinda shows.

That's a well done scene. Good tension and sound design. The rasp of that actor's voice really sold things too.

This will be the first Disney+ show I will wait until it's fully released so I can binge properly. I did that with Rick & Morty Season 6 and it was honestly a better overall experience compared to having to wait week after week.

@SonOfAGif - that's how my wife and I watched Andor, and yes it was a much better experience that way.

@BigDriggs - Andor was great in three episode chunks.

@SonOfAGif - But discussing it week to week is also fun. I understand, though. Some shows work better binged.

Really good opening.

If Ross really turns out to be a Skrull then I wonder since when. Okoye rescued him out from that convoy after his wife set him up in the final moments of Wakanda Forever. Was he one then? Since always? Or was there a switch somewhere in-between the Blip and when he was restored back to life in Endgame? (If he was dusted, of course)
