SHE-HULK: ATTORNEY AT LAW Star Confirms Their Character's LGBTQ+ Status In The MCU

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has shown us a very different side of the MCU, and one of the show's main cast members has now confirmed theories that their character is indeed part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Marvel Studios has used She-Hulk: Attorney at Law to add a lot of new characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Some hail from the comic books, while others are original creations (such as Ginger Gonzaga's Nikki Ramos).

During this week's fourth episode of the Disney+ series, Jennifer Walters attempts to navigate the tricky world of online dating. Nikki lends her best friend a hand and, at one point, remarks that "hetero life is grim." That's led to a lot of speculation about her sexuality, but Gonzaga has now confirmed, via TV Line, that the character is indeed part of the LGBTQ+ community.

"I wish that we got to more. Nikki is definitely queer, she's free, she'll love anyone," the actress confirms. "I thought of her initially as being bi, because I'm kind of projecting myself onto this character. But in truth I think Nikki will love anyone – and she can hang with anyone, which is fun."

"She can hang with villains, and she can all of a sudden convince them to get on her side. She can charm herself out of any situation. There are no rules for Nikki, which is a nice balance with Jen Walters."

"I wish we got to see her dating more, but I will say she has a bit of a secret crush on [Renée Elise Goldsberry's] Mallory, which we'll see," Gonzaga added. "Nikki doesn't have any problems dating, so we're trying to focus on what needs to happen, which is getting Jen to love herself in both forms and finally go on some decent dates."

Marvel Studios has been a tad hit and miss with representation since Phase 4 began, but without the restrictions presented by theatrical releases, this is something we hope to see explored more on Disney+. Gonzaga's comments point to us learning more about her status as a queer woman in future episodes, anyway, so that should be fun over the coming weeks.

As for Mallory, that's Mallory Book, one of Jen's biggest rivals in the comic books. She's only appeared once in the show so far, but it does sound like that's about to change.

The first four episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law are now streaming on Disney+.

I am so sick of this! Not the character being LGBTQ+ but them having to confirm this kind of stuff in interviews. If that's the case show it on screen or don't even talk about it. What's the point of these kind of additions to the character if they don't play into the show or movie at all. If you wouldn't know by watching the show it is seems like lip service at best.

@kider2 - There is a serious problem in a lot of shows and movies now where they tell but never show. Or a lot of times they'll show someone doing or being something and then tell us something completely different.

@WarMonkey - And to add to my comment... Reminds of Capt Jack from Doctor Who all the way back in the early 2000s. They didn't just say he would screw anything with a heartbeat, maybe even without, they started by showing him hitting on Rose then when that didn't work he started hitting on the Doctor, and the in other episode he was hitting on just about anyone or any alien he found attractive.

It's so weird what Hollywood does now, they put a small, blink and you'll miss it, scene in and then when the actors or writers are asked about it they start boasting about how the character is super gay, yet they never show it or it's hidden in the background of scenes.

She hasn't really got much of a character but I guessed she was queer given the insertion of "hetro" when she was looking at Jens dating profile.

@DoubleD - That's hilarious, that's actually exactly what my guess was after watching the first episode LMAO. These writers really need to get out into the real world more and out of their weird little bubble of rich socialites who judge everyone and everything from a great distance looking downwards.

If they had actually focused on making an awesome She-Hulk show this could have been so freaking amazing, such a shame. She-Hulk, before the MCU, was a top 25 all-time favorite character for comic nerds. This show should have a huge audience and should be propelling the excitement for future projects in the MCU.

MCU used to be so much fun and it was awesome to share our knowledge and love of these characters with others that were discovering this universe for the first time. Remember when we were the ones turning to confused people to explain why we were so freaking excited to see a giant purple guy sitting on a throne after Avengers? I loved that but now we have people that have no love, respect or knowledge of these characters writing stories that are just so boring and predictable.

Why is this even an article?

That last episode was easily the best. Felt like it combined all the set up from the previous 3 episodes and nailed the balance of hero and attorney perfectly. It also seemed like the episode with the biggest budget, not just in the action but in the facial expressions as well. Really love how much they've nailed this

Ok.
I'll be glad when banality stops being celebrated and starts being treated for the normalcy that it is.
People are gay. Big whoop.

the third episode was just stupid. The ring was all the dumbass Blaze had to do "magic". Why did they try to get a restraining order to have him stop his "magic" instead of going after recovering the property he took with him? The writers were correct, they can not write episodes about the law or even basic common sense.

Cool, anything to detract from the show being an unfunny mess.

Why do they need to belittle my favourite character's arch just to elevate the protagonist. Couldn't she also had some character development to earn what took Bruce years to achieve? But nah, no internal struggles, no bullet in the mouth, no losing friends/loved ones, no years of experience. Just some mansplaining and voila: better in every way. Fun.

I'm genuinely confused. I though being bi was that you loved everyone already, but now you're telling me that is not the case and it's a seperate thing from being bi?
Radders
Radders - 9/9/2022, 9:44 AM
@bkmeijer1 - Bi usually means you're attracted to both men and women. I presume she's alluding to pansexual, which basically means means you'll nail anything whatever gender. (I used "anything" because its a world with non humans)
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 9/9/2022, 9:49 AM
@Radders - oh gotcha. Already had an idea, but wasn't sure (and to lazy to Google).

Guess that makes sense, especially in a world with elves and aliens. Would that make Star-Lord pansexual too?
Radders
Radders - 9/9/2022, 10:09 AM
@bkmeijer1 - I'm not sure if there's a word for that lol He clearly has sexual encounters with other species but they've only mentioned females in the movies.

bkmeijer1 - 9/9/2022, 10:29 AM
@Radders - true. I think there's probably a word for it out there somewhere, just one we don't know about yet

@bkmeijer1 - "randy" lol
