Netflix's THE WITCHER Series Won't Be Released Before 2020 As The Script Requires More Polishing
Producer Erik Barmack has confirmed that we will have to wait at least two more years to watch Netflix's The Witcher adaptation as the series will be filmed entirely in Poland, Eastern and Central Europe!
Netflix's The Witcher adaptation is a highly anticipated series and it looks like fans of Andrzej Sapkowski's books and CD Projekt Red's game trilogy will have to wait a little longer to see it than we expected. Producer Erik Barmack has revealed that the series won't be released before 2020, and even this is an optimistic date as the script is still unfinished and requires more time.
It wasn't the only information Polish website NaEkranie learned during Netflix's press event in Rome, as the producer confirmed that the series will be filmed entirely in Eastern and Central Europe, mostly in Poland where the source material was created. We will also have to wait for casting announcements, as the producers are currently focusing on the pre-production and location scouting.
Screenwriter and producer Lauren S. Hissrich has already finished working on the pilot episode and recently had a chance to visit Poland and meet Andrzej Sapkowski, the book's author and one of the series' consultant. Last week, she visited the biggest Polish cities, including Warsaw, Kraków and Łódź, and also a castle in Rabsztyn which looks strangely similar to Kaer Morhen.
Take a look:
The witcher Geralt, a mutated monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.
