STRANGER THINGS Season 3 Ups Priah Ferguson To Recurring Role, While Adding Maya Hawke As New Lead

Netflix announced two casting decisions for Stranger Things season 3 yesterday. The first is that Priah Ferguson will now have a recurring role on the show, while Maya Thurman-Hawke has been tapped to play one of the show's new leads.

Stranger Things fans took a liking to Ferguson last season who had a small, but entertaining guest role as Erica Sinclair, Lucas' headstrong, little sister. In season 3, Erica will have her own "army of friends" who will find themselves on "a wild mission to save Hawkins from a dangerous new threat."

Additionally, Netflix has also cast Maya Thurman-Hawke (Little Women) as Robin, described only as an angsty "alternative girl." Netflix notes, "Bored with her mundane day job. She seeks excitement in her life and gets more than she bargained for when she uncovers a dark secret in Hawkins, Ind."
This latest casting news follows last weeks details of three additional characters being added to the show: Mayor Larry Kline, a classic, 80's style slick politician; Bruce, a morally compromised news reporter; and Patricia Brown, the sweet, neighborhood elder.

Not much is known about the plot of Stranger Things season 3 aside from the fact that the Mind Flayer still looms over Hawkins from the Upside Down. While all of these new characters and side stories are intriguing, one has to wonder how the Duffer brothers will manage to fit it all into just eight episodes.

Stranger Things will return to Netflix for its third season in 2019.
