THE WITCHER: Henry Cavill's Geralt Of Rivia Wields His Steel Sword In This New Official Still

Netflix has shared a new official image from the upcoming Witcher TV series, and it gives us another look at Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) wielding his other sword. Check it out after the jump...

Fans have been wondering why all of the promo material for Netflix's The Witcher showed Henry Cavill's titular monster hunter sporting only a single sword when the character is known for wielding dual-blades (steel for human, silver for monsters), but it looks like he will indeed be utilizing more than one weapon on the show.

Although this new still doesn't feature Geralt wielding two swords, the one he is holding appears to be quite a bit different from the silver blade spotted in previous images.

It probably doesn't seem like a big deal one way or the other, but you'd be surprised how many people bring this up on social media!

Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski's series of fantasy novels - which have since spawned a hugely popular video game franchise - focus on monster hunters known as Witchers who develop supernatural abilities at a young age. The main character is Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), a solitary Witcher who struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.

The 8-episode first season will be written by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (Daredevil, The Defenders, Umbrella Academy), who will also serve as executive producer and showrunner. Alik Sakharov (House of Cards, Game of Thrones) will helm a total of four episodes, while Alex Garcia Lopez (Luke Cage, Fear The Walking Dead) and Charlotte Brändström (Outlander, Counterpart) will direct two installments each.

Tell us, are you guys looking forward to The Witcher? Sound off in the usual place, and check out a series of previously released stills below.

@davidwiz - Broader audience...MUCH broader audience. Animated/CGI shows have a very limited customer base.

@Philvis - Plus, the incredible Blur Studio CG trailers for the Witcher 3 (which I assume is the model davidwiz would want for a series) cost something like a million dollars a minute to produce.

They're stunning, but that's not sustainable for an eight hour streaming season.

@Spock0Clock - heee hee thats an awful lot of cash lol, but even the video games are incredible, i dont think it costs a million bucks a minute for a video game, the mmo im playing now blade and soul i think it cost 50 million for the production of the whole game, and if you were to make it real, even 50 billion wouldnt cover it, why one costume might cost 50k to make in real life lol...

He could have been a great Superman if they just hadn't gone so conflicted with the character. Superman is supposed to be the most optimistic and thoroughly unconflicted of the superheroes. At least at first. Later in his career, when stronger adversaries force him to make harder choices, then he has inner conflicts. Putting them so early and muddying his whole identity the way Snyder did just ruined the whole thing. Also, he changed and ommited things you really shouldn't and it was never necessary to. Like the fortress of solitude and Jimmy Olsen for just a small amount of comic relief in the proper place.

@ImmovableForce - A lot of that is discussed and rebutted with proof from the comics here

@ErinHannon7 - That's a Snyder fanbot account.

How about actually linking to all the articles and people who actually know what they are talking about and don't have a Snyder fetish.

Also he takes a bunch of panels out of comic books out of context and misrepresents a great deal.

It's like the other Snyder fanboys using panels from Batman killing from the 1930's and ignore every panel since then where he doesn't.
