We'll have a new main villain when the show returns in 2015 -- Madame Kali, the spiritualist and medium who hosted the Seance in the second episode of the first season. Says Showtime president David Nevins of the character: "There’s a great antagonist next year played by Helen McCrory… Season 1’s antagonist was sort of an inhuman character. It’ll be good to have a more human antagonist.”

"A little slow"? That's like saying a sloth or a snail with a motor disorder is "a little slow". I've never seen a show just utterly refuse to advance the plot like this one. Nothing happens! There were great moments and great performances but they were few and far between endless and often pointless conversations. Seriously nothing happens! Oh and the show with Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolf-Man, and Dorian Gray.... was actuall ALL about some possesses chick you've never heard of.

And another thing nearly every "twist" on this on this show was predictable from the first or second episode but most weren't "revealed" until the last.

@marvel72 - My sentiments exactly, best new shows this year are Leftovers, Penny Dreadful and True Detective by a loooong mile.

Fargo and The Knick have also been outstanding.

One of the best, most intelligently-written shows on television. The writing behind this is equal to that of the BBC's Sherlock Holmes. From set designs to costumes to dialogue this series is absolutely amazing!
