"Once upon a time, there was a place called the Wilderness. It was beautiful, but it was also violent and misunderstood. And it waited and waited to befriend whoever arrived."
Yellowjackets is set to return to our screens on March 24, and Showtime has finally released a full trailer to give fans a better idea of what to expect.
There's quite a lot to unpack here, but the biggest talking point has to be the return of Lottie Mathews, aka The Antler Queen, who was only shown on the island as a teenager in the first season.
We found out in the finale that she also made it home alive, however, and it sounds like she's become even more unhinged as an adult.
Check out the trailer, which is set to Florence + the Machine’s new cover of No Doubt's “Just a Girl.”
If you're unfamiliar with Yellowjackets, we highly recommend adding it to your must-watch list. The show has been referred to as a mash-up of Lost and Lord of the Flies, and while those comparisons are valid, it's very much its own, compelling, grim, hilarious, messed-up thing.
Playing out in two timelines, the story focuses on a school soccer team (the Yellowjackets of the title) who are forced to eke out an existence on a remote island when their plane crashes in 1996. We also follow the four main survivors in the present as they struggle with the lengths they had to go to in order to stay alive over two decades earlier.
Oh, and there's some kind of dark supernatural force at play on the island... or is there?
