How much meaning streaming numbers really mean is debatable, but we have seen Netflix cancel plenty of shows that failed to live up to their expectations. Things are a little different on Disney+, of course, especially as many of their series appear to be standalone in nature (Loki remains the only Marvel Studios TV show that's been given a season 2).
Now, Deadline is reporting that data shared with them by Samba TV indicates Wednesday - Sunday viewership for The Book of Boba Fett saw 1.7 million U.S. households tune in during that period.
The trade makes a point of highlighting the fact this figure is higher than the 1.5 million U.S. households Hawkeye reached between November 24 - November 28. That's not exactly a huge difference and was probably to be expected when Boba Fett is such an iconic Star Wars character.
Loki still has the highest 5-day premiere on Disney+ with 2.5 million U.S. households; the combination of Tom Hiddleston and the God of Mischief clearly drew a lot of interest. We're actually surprised The Book of Boba Fett did this well as the marketing campaign was one of Disney's least exciting. Trailers and promos were all light on reveals, while there were none of the usual interviews and promotional events prior to the show's premiere (COVID caused the red carpet event to be scrapped).
The second episode of The Book of Boba Fett arrives on Disney+ tomorrow. A new featurette for the show literally just dropped and you can watch that below:
