ANDOR: Luthen Rael's Mystery Weapon Has Been Revealed And It's NOT A Lightsaber After All

There's been a lot of speculation about what Luthen Rael's mystery weapon might be following last Wednesday's episode of Andor, but an upcoming action figure confirms it's not a lightsaber after all...

In last week's episode of Andor, Stellan Skarsgård's Luthen Rael paid another visit to Saw Garrera. He didn't receive the warmest of welcomes after their last meeting, and ended up being searched on his way in, with a weapon shown that many fans argued could be a lightsaber.

Rael being a former Jedi is an intriguing theory, though it would be a little hard to believe he'd somehow escaped Order 66 and found a way to set up shop on Coruscant (in full sight of Emperor Palpatine and the Empire). Still, there was always a chance it could be a lightsaber, especially as his den of antiquities is filled with a variety of artefacts from the time of the Jedi.

Now, the truth has been revealed (via SFFGazette.com), though it's not as exciting as some of us expected.

As you can see below, Luthen is, in fact, wielding a knife. It's just a very unique design which sees it hidden inside what looks like a club or staff. Now, we'd probably suggest forgetting about seeing him whip out a lightsaber to battle the Empire in tomorrow's finale or season 2 (assuming he survives whatever's coming our way tomorrow).

Andor not featuring Jedi Knights is hardly a shocker, especially as the series is both very grounded and focused on telling the story of how the Rebellion was formed. While the likes of Ahsoka Tano and Luke Skywalker would be key in that down the line, the fact it was initially created by normal people in the Galaxy is so far proving to be a vastly more interesting story.

The show presents Star Wars from a different perspective, focusing on everyday people whose lives are affected by the Empire. The decisions they make have real consequences, and the stakes for them - and the Galaxy - couldn’t be higher.

Diego Luna returns as Cassian Andor and is joined by cast members Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller and Fiona Shaw. The executive producers are Kathleen Kennedy, Tony Gilroy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Diego Luna and Michelle Rejwan. Tony Gilroy is also the creator and showrunner.

The season finale of Andor arrives on Disney+ this Wednesday.

Andor's been some really good [frick]ing food, still gotta catch up on Ep11 and be ready for tomorrow.

What a beautiful show this turned out to be, and Luthen is just one volatile character, to think he is one of the Rebellion main root put things into a perspective when watching Ep 4 to 6.

Glad it’s not a lightsaber. This bad ass doesn’t need one.

Will the story of Cassian's sister be revisited in the finale? I feel like it has to be...
