THE ACOLYTE Stills Spotlight That Huge Debut, A Returning Fan-Favorite, And An Emotional Farewell - SPOILERS

The season finale of The Acolyte featured quite a few surprises, and you can get another look at a certain returning fan-favorite and that big live-action debut right here...

The first season (assuming there will be a second) of The Acolyte concluded earlier this week with an exciting finale which featured the long-awaited debut of a character first mentioned in the Star Wars prequels, and a cameo from a certain fan-favorite Jedi Master.

Spoilers follow.

There's been speculation that Qimir's master might turn out to be Darth Plagueis - the powerful Sith Senator Palpatine told Anakin Skywalker about in Revenge of the Sith - and the brief glimpse of a hooded alien with glowing eyes as "The Stranger" departed with Osha would appear to confirm as much.

Though we weren't certain that this was definitely Plagueis at the time, the sinister figure did appear to be part of the Muun species, and showrunner Leslye Headland has since confirmed that this was no misdirect: Darth Plagueis is now officially part of the new Star Wars canon.

This wasn't the only big reveal, as the episode ended with Vanestra walking into the chambers of a certain diminutive Jedi Master and telling him they needed to speak about the tragic events that have unfolded.

As the camera pans down, we see that Yoda, it is.

Check out some images along with an official look at Mae and Osha's farewell scene below.

In The Acolyte, an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems.

The series stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss.

Leslye Headland created the series, based on Star Wars by George Lucas, and serves as an executive producer along with Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King and Jason Micallef. Charmaine DeGraté and Kor Adana are the co-executive producers. Rayne Roberts, Damian Anderson, Eileen Shim and Rob Bredow are the producers.

Headland also directed the premiere episodes (Eps. 101 & 102). Directors Kogonada (Eps. 103 & 107), Alex Garcia Lopez (Eps. 104 & 105) and Hanelle Culpepper (Eps. 106 & 108) round out the directing duties on the series.

"I really wanted to tell a story about the Sith," Headland told EW in a recent interview. "That was kind of my dream Star Wars idea. But it felt like the time period to do that in would be something pre-Phantom Menace. That seemed to be the most interesting trajectory for the Sith: How did the Sith go from the Rule of Two and being quote-unquote 'extinct' to Palpatine coming into power without the Jedi knowing about it?"

Award-winning composer Michael Abels, known for his work on Get Out and Us, scored The Acolyte.

Two great characters wasted in a pile of dung. This show wanted to be the edgy sibling amongst the other Disney Plus SW shows, but it came off more comical than anything.

So my theory is that Plagueis used the force to create Anakin as his vessel to transport his body into after Death but Palpatine killed him in his sleep in the hopes of using Anakin as a vessel for himself. But the Jedi found Anakin first and The Emperor dispatched Darth Maul to try and capture Anakin. Since Anakin was trained in the light side, The Emperor was working hard with Thrawn, Moff Gideon, and others to try and replicate life through cloning and witchcraft while he figured out how to replicate it through the force the way Darth Plagueis did with Anakin. In the end Palpatine was able to puppeteer a body with Snoke and figured out to transfer his subconscious into a clone of his but ultimately fail. Just my theory.

@SonOfAGif - Making Anakin the basis of the strandcast would be pretty clever too. It was Anakin he wanted to possess all along. If he couldn't recreate him, he could just clone him (and pimp him out by splicing him with other powerful force users while he was at it).

Maybe there is some mystical cloning element involved in the production of Osha/Mae. It is apparent that they genetically take after the mother that didn't physically give birth to them (black skin) rather than the mother that did give birth to them.

Also trinities are a recurring theme in witchcraft mythologies. The triple goddess, the three-in-one, etc.

Anyway , I have a feeling “Qimir” is not actually Sith (he does say that the Jedi woukd call him that) or that he may atleast not be aware of others like Plagueis out there hence I think he’s been working on his own thus he has no master.

I hope we get more info on him if we get future seasons , especially in regards to his fallout with Vernestra and the Jedi!!.

Why so many articles about the end of the show? This article didn’t add anything new to the conversation.

Nobody cares about Star Wars anymore.

It's a girl brand and a dead brand.

Good job, Disney.
