After losing The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina to Netflix, The CW is moving forward with another Riverdale spinoff centered on popular Archie Comics heroine Katy Keene, and they've just found their leading lady in Lucy Hale.

In addition to Hale as the title character, the cast of the pilot will also feature Ashleigh Murray (Riverdale), Camille Hyde (Power Rangers Dino Charge), Lucien Laviscount (Snatch), Jonny Beauchamp (Penny Dreadful) and Julia Chan (Saving Hope). Murray will reprise her role as Josie
McCoy, but will be aged up for the potential new series.

The current synopsis reads, "Katy Keene follows the lives and loves of four iconic Archie Comics characters — including fashion legend-to-be Katy Keene — as they chase their twenty-something dreams in New York City. This musical dramedy chronicles the origins and struggles of four aspiring artists trying to make it on Broadway, on the runway
and in the recording studio."

Hale is best known for her leading role on Freeform's Pretty Little Liars where she played Aria Montgomery for seven seasons, and she was also the lead on The CW's short-lived comedy/drama series Life Sentence. She recently wrapped a pair of films, Jeff Wadlow's supernatural comedy horror Fantasy Island and the romantic comedy A Nice Girl Like You, and is expected to begin work on Katy Keene pilot next.

Not sure this one's for me and I absolutely love Riverdale. I'll check out the first few episodes. I didn't think I'd like Riverdale either but I loved it.

She is very pretty and I think a fairly decent actress so sounds like a great choice to me.

Haven't seen her in much. I will say she was probably the best thing about that piece of shit Truth or Dare movie that came out last year.

A musical dramedy huh? Interesting. As long as it isn't anything like Riverdale is in terms of tone nor storylines then it should be a spin-off with it's own strong legs.
