Our first bit of major casting news for the third Venom movie here, with Ted Lasso star Juno Temple in final talks for an undisclosed lead role.
Deadline broke the news, but, as per usual, doesn't have any details on her character. There is already speculation that she might be playing Scream, who has been rumored to be introduced for a while.
Temple, who has also appeared in the likes of The Dark Knight Rises, Killer Joe, and Maleficent, will join Tom Hardy, who will reprise the role of Eddie Brock from Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage. It's unknown if any other actors from the previous movies will return.
Venom 3 will be directed by Kelly Marcel, who was a writer/producer on the first two films. Plot details are virtually non-existent, but Hardy previously shared an Instagram post teasing Eddie Brock's "last ride," which would seem to suggest that this is will be the actor's final time in the role.
Surely that means a face-off with Spider-Man is on the cards... right?
Eddie/Venom did appear in one of Spider-Man: No Way Home's post-credits scenes, with a piece of the symbiote remaining behind in The MCU when Brock was zapped back to his own universe. This led to speculation that a confrontation might be imminent, but it's best not to draw any conclusions when it comes to Sony's "SPUMC!"
Let There Be Carnage ended with Cletus Kasady's (Woody Harrelson) apparent death (though that doesn't mean Carnage won't return), and Detective Pat Mulligan (Stephen Graham) seemingly being taken over by another alien symbiote, possibly setting up the debut of Toxin in this third movie.
