VENOM Featurette Explores Tom Hardy's Dual Performance And Reveals New Behind The Scenes Footage

While a lot of fans are understandably sceptical about Venom, there's no denying that seeing Tom Hardy play these characters promises to be a great deal of fun. I say "characters" because his performances as Eddie Brock and Venom looks set to be very different indeed. Now, a new featurette has been released shedding some light on that and featuring new behind the scenes footage.

"Tom voices the character at all times, and that vocal performance is so rich and so characterful that we have plenty to start working with straightaway," explained VFX supervisor Paul Franklin when IGN visited the set of the Marvel Comics adaptation in San Francisco. "So we’re capturing Tom’s physical performance, and that, in turn, is also informing what’s going on with the digital character."

Oliver Scholl, Venom's production designer, adds: "[Tom is] trying out different versions of what he could be saying, thinking, how the interaction would be. Interaction is the wrong word, because he’s interacting with himself. [It’s] Tom finding Venom, or trying to find him inside him, like, bringing him out and playing this schizophrenic personality, and I think it’s a very different tone." Sounds decent!

At least two out of three of these are unlikely to be true. We’ll just have to see how good it is to see if it’s three out of three.

The alleged plot leak of this I read really sounds bad. At least as a read it does and the execution might be better.

I'd prefer it to not actually be terrible, but we'll see. I haven't been impressed so far. There's apparently gonna be a bit in this movie too I can't wait to see MCU haters who have been desperately supporting this react to.

@BlindWedjat - Is the bit the one with the word that starts with "d" and ends in "ance"?

@TexasAvenger Right?! Lol if this movie had a lot more promising prospect, I'd say they were keeping it for spoilers but unfortunately ....I think we all can agree it's because of reviews :(

I know in the comics Eddy is pretty buffed and already a bigger dude than Peter but this?

As massive as he looks where does Tom Hardy body resides? Does it meld with the symbiote or has limb extension like stilts and such?

In Spider-man 3 he looked bigger than Spider-Man but not crazy massive as in Venom.

It is such a mixed bag of a film, that at times it feels new and refreshing (the stuff between Venom & Brock) while the other stuff just seems outdated. Meaning, if this was released in 2002 or 2003 when Blade, Underworld, Resident Evil, were pretty big at the time, this would fit PERFECTLY with those films.

Not a great movie, but not a bad one either. Very mixed.
