The game's focus on a writer, a missing person, a mystery, a demonic entity, and a writer's book coming to life...it all reminds me of John Carpenter's movie In the Mouth of Madness with Sam Neill. Although, this game doesn't feel as Lovecraftian.

Alternate dimensions and dark things trying to break through into our world...really, that didn't feel Lovecraftian to you?

@KMDTGEEKBLAST I said "as Lovecraftian." It felt very Lovecraftian. But in my comment, I compared Alan Wake to In the Mouth of Madness. I was saying that, in comparing the two, the film was more Lovecraftian than the game.

Oh, sorry missed the "as". In that case you're right. The game didn't have that piercingly scary feel that In The Mouth Of Madness had. I think they could've done that, but I think remedy felt that they had to keep the tone of the game as such that it would appeal to a wider audience. Alan Wake an American Nightmare was a move in that direction. Let's hope we get Alan Wake 2 sooner rather than later!
