In a recent interview with GamesIndustry.biz (via IGN Movies), Ubisoft's chief sales and marketing officer Geoffroy Sardin may have let slip some potentially very interesting details about the current status of the highly anticipated big screen adaptation of the Assassin's Creed franchise.
"Another thing that is very important for the lifecycle is the transmedia offer. All the figurines, the books, the publishing, and we have a movie in the next coming year. So it's not only about games, we are talking about a global brand, and this is the life cycle management we want to set up now."
While it almost sounds as if the film will be released within the next year, it's far more likely that Sardin is referring to the start of production. With
X-Men: Days of Future Past set to begin filming in April (keeping Michael Fassbender busy for at least a few months), it's logical to come to the conclusion that work will begin on
Assassin's Creed either late Summer or early Fall for a possible 2014 release. What do guys think? Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.
