It's been almost two years since we last heard anything about the reboot of Tomb Raider, and most people were doubting the reboot would ever happen.
Well the quiet spell has been broken.
TheFanCarpet is citing "sources close to the project" as saying that Olivia Wilde is going to be playing Lara Croft.
"This would be a far darker and more serious Tomb Raider movie, the idea is to get a top director and an intelligent script and make this an empowering character for women as well as a popular one with men. Olivia is just one of the names being suggested for the lead role. She would appear to be ideal."
The site then goes on to say that Olivia's role in the new
Tron flick was what turned studios on to her.
I also found these pictures of Olivia dressed up as Lara Croft, I'm not entirely sure where they came from but damn she looks good. Someone says they're from a photoshoot for 'House' but why would she be dressed as Lara?
UPDATE: These are from the 6th Season photoshoot for 'House', however I'm leaving them up because they're awesome.
I think it's safe to say that Angelina Jolie IS Lara Croft, she was perfect as the character, however bad the films may have been.
But if the series is going to be rebooted, and Angelina has no desire to return to the character then Olivia Wilde is in my opinion a good choice for a replacement.
