An Animated SUPER MARIO Movie Is In Development At Universal Pictures' Illumination Entertainment

Illumination Entertainment most recently brought audiences Despicable Me 3 and are currently hard at work on The Minions 2 but it's been revealed that they're also developing an animated Super Mario film.

"We're the Mario Brothers, and plumbing is our game,
we're not like the others, who get all the fame.

If your sink is in trouble,
you can call us on the double.

We're faster than the others,
you'll be hooked on the brothers.
"

Do you remember that campy Super Mario Bros. live-action/animated variety show from the late '80s that starred wrestler-turned-actor Captain Lou Albano? Well, that was the last, official animated Mario project from Nintendo as the colossal failure of the live-action Super Mario adaptation scared the video game maker away from adaptations of their IPs.

The Hollywood Reporter has just revealed that Illumination Entertainment has done the impossible and convinced Nintendo to give it another go, as the studio is working on an animated Super Mario feature film.  Head over to our sister site, AnimeMojo.com for additional reporting.

There's no reason why not. They've just got to find a way to make it a story people can get invested in. Like Disney did with Wreck-it Ralph. Which i really liked.

Is that Uncharted flick still going ahead? I wonder if they'll cast a young Chloe Frazer.

@TheManWithoutFear - Hope not tbh, it's pretty clear Chloe just met Nathan in Drake's Fortune. Even a cameo would feel as strange as young Lois' cameo in the 1978 Superman film.

Unless you liked that scene then, enjoy.

@KelvTwelve - Wait Chloe didn't appear until 'Among Thieves'. And the only thing that is obvious at that point is that she's known Nate for a while.

@TheManWithoutFear - OOOOOH sorry! I keep mixing up Chloe and his wife Elena! Sorry lol! I just finished Lost Legacy too so that's extra bad on me. Yeah Chloe could make total sense tbh, considering her father's career.

He is no longer a plumber anymore. It seems he hasn't been for a long time.

place your bets on who will get the Minions treatment (cute on small doses and side jokes, annoying once overexposed). I say the Goombas.
