Ahead of tomorrow's limited launch for
Anthem, BioWare, EA, and Oats Studios have debuted the eagerly awaited live-action short from acclaimed sci-fi director Neill Blomkamp -
Conviction. Given the director's experience in the genre, excitement was high heading into today's premiere and Blomkamp definitely delivered.
Conviction is an original story set decades before the beginning of
Anthem, introducing us to BioWare's intriguing new world. That said, it does feel like more of a live-action trailer and since I haven't yet played the game, it left me with more questions that I hope will be answered in the actual game. In any case, Blomkamp's short does an incredible job of bringing to life
Anthem, showcasing the futuristic tech, and setting up what appears to be an incredible sci-fi story.
From Neill Blomkamp, Oats Studios and BioWare comes a live-action story of survival set in the world of Anthem, decades before the events of the game.
We know, based on what EA
previously shared about the short film, that the group of freelancers we see in Javelin exosuits are taking on the villainous Monitor, head of the Dominion faction. And as
we previously learned, The Dominion is an aggressive military group led by The Monitor, who believes that he knows how to properly handle the Anthem of Creation. It's all incredible build-up to
Anthem's release on February 22 (or February 15 for those eligible for early access).
Now can we please get Fox to finally greenlight Neill Blomkamp's
Alien movie?
