It's been a long time coming, but New Mutants has finally begun pre-production. Director Josh Boone has confirmed that via a couple of posts on Instagram and it sounds as if he's been joined by longtime friend and original screenwriter Knate Gwaltney. A later draft was penned by The Fault in Our Stars scribes Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber.

Whether or not this means the movie will indeed be released in 2018 remains to be seen, but this is definitely a good sign. Based on the "Demon Bear Saga," the likes of Mirage, Wolfsbane, Sunspot, Cannonball, Magik, Dani Moonstar, and Warlock are all expected to appear, while it's possible James McAvoy's Professor X will also show up in some capacity here.

@xinstituto - Singer never was a comic book fan. He just liked the animated series.

@xinstituto - Singer was so NOT a comic book fan. He didn't even want them on set as a reference or in any capacity.

@WruceBayne - Only for X1. The actress that played the young Storm was reading comics as homework.

the other member was Karma, but not appearing in this 1st movie, as far as we know.

Fox is finally making some great X-films. Please let this be one of them (It probably will due to lack of Singer tbh)

I don't know how to feel about this movie. These are great characters, and deadpool/logan are the best cbms to come out in the past couple years..

but apocalypse was so terrible. And it didn't even really seem like it was just a singer problem, that movie had a crap budget. And script.

@ALostCause - You do realize that both "Deadpool" and "Logan" combined STILL had less of a budget than Apocalypse, right? You literally just contradicted yourself with that last remark about a "crap budget".

Apocalypse is just okay. The main issue with it is that it feels like this clumsy attempt to make an "Avengers" movie, but with the "X-Men". It takes a step backward from from what DOFP did so well, and settles for just being "another one". Which is disappointing. But, objectively looking at it as just a movie, it isn't offensive to me. I don't hate it. But, I'd be hardpressed to remember a single thing about it.

@ThaIllest89 - yeah, i actually thought about how i expressed myself incorrectly after i posted, but i was in the car when i realized that.

i meant that apocalypse has a crap budget for what it was attempting to do. it LOOKS like it had a low budget. i could almost see the green screens. and the cgi was really old looking. i usually never complain about cgi, but i thought it looked really bad there.

and the tone.. the magneto scene.. oh gawd im having flashbacks, i don't even want to talk about it anymore.
SwiggitySw00ty
SwiggitySw00ty - 4/10/2017, 12:32 PM
@ALostCause - If you look at the behind the scenes content the green screen was actually not noticeable at all for the vast majority of the film.

About the Magneto scene...remember what Beast said about time travel in DOFP?
SwiggitySw00ty
SwiggitySw00ty - 4/10/2017, 12:35 PM
@ThaIllest89 - It's not an attempt at making it an Avengers. Singer prior to the film's release said that trying to make it like the Avengers would be a bad idea. It was trying to be like the original horsemen story arc, which a surprising amount of people have not read.
