Disney+ official Twitter account shared a post regarding Disney plus day, September 8. The social media team’s choice of a Wolverine gif to inform that 6 days have left to the Disney Plus Day has caused speculations about a potential announcement of X-Men’s reboot in MCU. News from X-Men may be the main event of Disney Plus Day, which will be held from September 8-11.
Many fans have mixed thoughts on prior X-Men movies because of the series’ time-travel reboot, actor changes, and unstable structure. Yet, many X-Men films have won recognition such as X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) with 91 audience scores or X-Men: First Class (2011) with 87 audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes. Disney have the rights of X-Men since 2018 when they bought 20th Century and fans have been anticipating an X-Men input to the MCU for better X-Men movies from that day onward.
In the past movies, Disney has already started to put mutants in the MCU's mutant-free universe. In Ms. Marvel’s finale, there is a twist that Kamala Khan is actually a mutant. Moreover, Patrick Stewart appearing as Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is also an indication of the possible addition of mutants into the MCU. Similarly, in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, Wolverine’s existence in the MCU is seemingly confirmed. Wolverine’s Disney has been speculating about X-Men for months and unclearly informs the audience that X-Men will be a part of MCU soon.
The potential ways to add X-Men characters in the MCU engage fans' attention for a long time. The seemingly best and most efficient way to mix X-Men with MCU without a major reboot and news origin stories is parallel universes. As Spider-Man: No Way Home brought all three Spider-Man to our sight, Disney may follow a similar pattern to work on X-Men. Because of Spider-Man: No Way Home after credit, It is already canon that there is a piece of Venom’s symbiote searching for prey in MCU, we can’t really figure out what are the other changes in the MCU. Maybe, our Avengers may seek interdimensional help from an outer team. Either way, X-Men joining the MCU will be much more complicated than bringing three Spider-Man.
However, the Disney+ social media team’s choice of a Wolverine gif can be a groundless way to entertain their 4.8 million followers. Even though X-Men’s joining of MCU seemingly is soon enough to excite fans, it is hard to know when and how for sure.
