The most memorable scene from Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past involves Quicksilver (Evan Peters) foiling security guards in the Pentagon's kitchen. The slow-motion sequence brilliantly blends action and humor. Quicksilver darts from one end of the kitchen to the other, disarming guards and repositioning them so that they can't harm his new mutant friends. He zips along the walls and through droplets while listening to Jim Croce's Time In A Bottle. It comes to a wonderful conclusion as Quicksilver changes the trajectory of plastic bullets headed toward Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and Charles Xavier (James McAvoy). Rising Sun Pictures have just released some information on the sequence and behind-the-scenes images detailing the movie magic they helped to conjure up for it.
"The slow motion sequence is an astonishing blend of live action, computer-generated objects and extensive visual effects. RSP collaborated with VFX Supervisor Richard Stammers and Director Bryan Singer to realize the creative vision of the sequence through the production of scores of CG props, including frying pans, knives, pots of boiling soup, carrots and bullets, as well as the omnipresent cascades of water droplets. Each of these elements needed to be rendered in near microscopic detail, placed precisely within the geometry of the kitchen and choreographed to move and react realistically to lighting, other objects and characters. RSP also aided in integrating the speedy Quicksilver into the near frozen environment. That illusion was accomplished through a combination of live action, a stunt double, green screen photography, a partial CG body replacement and a shimmering “rain tunnel” that forms around Quicksilver (caused by his swift passage through the near motionless falling water). All of this had to work properly in 2D and stereo 3D—and, of course, dazzle the eye." - Rising Sun Pictures
The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from “X-Men: First Class,” in an epic battle that must change the past – to save our future.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past will be directed by Bryan Singer ("Usual Suspects"). The cast includes: Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Ian McKellen, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Peter Dinklage, Nicholas Hoult, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Lucas Till, Evan Peters, Daniel Cudmore, Booboo Stewart, Omar Sy, Fan Bingbing, Evan Jonigkeit, Adan Canto and Josh Helman, X-Men: Days Of Future Past hits UK cinemas on May 22 and US cinemas the following day.

As [frick]ing amazing this scene was, QS was not my favorite character in the movie. It was an enjoyable, well thought out scene and role, but my favorite character was Mystique. She was definitely the heart of the movie, and Xavier the ravaged soul.

who would have thought foxs version of quicksilver would be not only great but one of the best parts of the movie. If Marvel studios Quicksilver ends up sucking then we are living in some kind of weird alternate reality.

Then again with what MS has been doing lately? (Winter Soldier being the obvious exception) i wouldn't be insanely surprised if Marvel Studios becomes what fox was in the early 2000s to 2009

Epic scene! Epic movie?

@BatManHeisenberg
Agreed. Quicksilver was awesome but the best part of the movie? Raven and Xavier were the heart and soul of the movie, and Fassbender was pure gold. I also loved the future mutants and their fight scenes. Hell, there's so much to love about the movie. I honestly can't choose.

A truly overrated scene. Seen it saying "that's what people were making a big deal about?"

But if Marvel Studios directed the scene the exact same way you'd be loving it right?

And that's NOT a jab at Marvel Studios. (cuz I like most of their stuff)

If MS did that scene, the same people praising it would instead be hating it saying, "Marvel and their comedy" or "They ruined QS! He's supposed to be a douche, not a goofball".

Really was a great and well done scene
Pretty much the highlight of the film too

But like Omega said he was pretty much a Flash of the movie and not much like the Quicksilver from the comics

Is it a bad thing? Not really, since the comic Quicksilver is pretty much a asshole and not really likeable

While the scene was done extremely well, I don't get all the hype here after people saw it as to how great of acting performance it was by Peters. His time on screen was more like an industry bit part and most of the "wow" factor was in the effects and not in his acting ability, as far as I was concerned. I liken it to the way that the Nightcrawler scene in X-Men 2 was delivered, but as for acting performances, Kurt Wagner is long forgotten.

I highly doubt it. Personally, I loved DOFP. I think it's the best Marvel movie yet, but you know what? If MS made that movie, I would've loved it just as much. Just like if Fox made Avengers, I would've loved it just as much. The company doesn't determine film quality y'know? I can only speak for myself though.

As for the comedy thing, comedy works in CBMs most of the time but some times hurts the movie. Example: I found Iron Man, Avengers, Thor, Spider-Man 1 & 2, Days of Future Past, Batman (89), The Wolverine and X-Men (2000) to be incredibly funny at certain moments yet still dramatic when they needed to be.

Other films such as Spider-Man 3, Iron Man 2 & 3, Thor 2, TASM 1 & 2, and Fantastic Four 1 & 2 suffer from forced comedy that just ISN'T FUNNY. Comedy is a good tool for filmmaking and entertainment. But it CAN be overdone.

Hiring charismatic actors that are just naturally funny is when comedy shines the most, inserting stupid lines at every corner kills what might've been funny.

Of course that's my opinion on the matter. I thought QS' scene was funny, but more badass than laughable y'know?
