Footage Descriptions For NOAH, WORLD WAR Z And JACK RYAN From Paramount Presentation

Paramount Pictures recently held a special presentation of their upcoming projects, debuting footage from films such as Darren Aronofsky's Noah, Kenneth Branagh's Jack Ryan, and the Brad Pitt-starrer World War Z. Check out descriptions of the footage shown after the jump.

Yesterday, Paramount Pictures held a special presentation teasing their upcoming films. They presented previously released trailers for their upcoming slate (such as Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters and G.I. Joe: Retaliation), while also showing the Star Trek Into Darkness three-frame "clip" that J.J. Abrams recently debuted on Conan. The studio also featured logos for two of their biggest films of 2014, Transformers 4 and Ninja Turtles. Perhaps the most interesting news to come from the presentation was the premiere of footage from some of Paramount's other upcoming movies. Trailers for World War Z (June 21st, 2013), Jack Ryan (December 25th, 2013) and Noah (March 28th, 2014) were all shown. Coming Soon attended the event, and below is their description of what was seen in these trailers. For the site's full coverage of the event (which also debuted new trailers for Jack Reacher, Pain & Gain and a new SpongeBob SquarePants movie), click the link below.

Darren Aronoskfy's Noah was up next, the footage showing off a hairy and dirty Russell Crowe as well as a number of other prime characters. We also got a look at the ark and, contrary to more idealistic versions of what was necessary to survive the epic flood, this one doesn’t look much like a ship, rather a gigantic wooden box. Stealing the spotlight from the structure and the film's stars is the country of Iceland. The piece is packed with scenic shots including some of the lushest environments and stunning skies.

[...] in came our first look at Chris Pine in action as Jack Ryan. The December 25, 2013 release has roots in the Tom Clancy novels, but puts the CIA analyst in an original scenario. Per the usual action thriller, the trailer features quite a bit of running around while offering glimpses of Pine's co-stars including Keira Knightley and Kevin Costner. Apparently the story's got a little something to do with Knightley's character, Cathy Ryan, getting in some hot water, because she's being dragged away in one scene of the piece.

The presentation ended on a profoundly high note with a trailer for the adaptation of Max Brooks' zombie novel, World War Z. It begins with Brad Pitt's character sitting in traffic with his family. They're busy playing a game when a cop bashes on their window in a panic. Standing near the driver side window, the cop begs Pitt to stay in his vehicle and, soon thereafter, is pummeled by a bus careening out of control. An explosion erupts and a mass of people race down the city streets. Pitt and his family hop into an abandoned RV and we get a glimpse of the world in madness. Beyond an unusual pair of eyes, we don't get a good look at World War Z's zombies, but the measures the uninfected take to reach safety might further confirm what last year's set footage revealed - that these zombies can run. In the trailer, gigantic hordes of people are scrambling for dear life. They're not just pushing and shoving each other out of the way, rather climbing on top of each other and manically hanging onto a hovering helicopter. In one of the trailer's final shots, there's a mountain of people trying to climb over a wall that must be hundreds of wriggling bodies high. The material is dark and downright horrifying, not only showing what could happen should the undead invade on a physical level, but also reflecting the societal meltdown that would ensue, and the pure chaos we'd be left with. World War Z was certainly the crown jewel of the presentation and, based on the footage, looks to be well worth the wait.

Zombies don't run !!!
Please refer to George Romero before a.Making them fast and b. Stick to the source material.
There is a very valid reason that the book did well. Just film the film as it was written.
Adaptations with a view to them being filmic are one thing but to throw out the source for no apparent reason is just a bunch of a&^e!!!!!!

I can believe the script for WWZ being terrible. Seeing how the movie is from the director of Quantum of Solace and Machine Gun Preacher.

As for Ninja Turtles, I read the script before Paramount took action and it was dreadful. It was like the Bayformers version of a Ninja Turtles movie. Very stupid and lacking proper focus. (Casey Jones is the central character and a teenager. Sound familiar?)

I'm intrigued by Noah. Russel Crowe usually does the kind of movies that I can appreciate so hopefully this is more of the same. I like Chris Pine so I probably will go see Jack Ryan as well. World War Z is the sketchy one. Brad Pitt usually picks pretty good movies as well, and as much as he seems like someone I would bag on, ever since his little role in True Romance I've held a great deal of respect for him as an actor mainly because he's one of those "a" list actors that has never taken himself too seriously. At least he comes off that way to me. I would like to see this movie do well for him, but who knows.

Cant wait to see the films.

But i really really hope Jack Ryan isnt gonna do Jason Bourne shit. He is not super agent or spy. His fighting needs to be more amateur.
I also hope it doesnt focus on the action all the time. Thriller part is more important.

WWZ should be good, but Im a sucker for zombie movies.

Jack Ryan has potentail if they go more political thriller than action block buster. I love Clancey books but messing with the family is more op-center than jack ryan. Although I like op center, I would prefer a Op-center movie on its own.

Noah looks good, and Russle Crowe always picks good movies.

Whats got me really worried is Reacher. Lee Childs is one of my favorite writers, and Reacher is an animal. Tom Cruise as reacher is probably the worst casting ever. I know he actually brought the rights, so without Cruise it might have never been made, but its still just wrong. Reacher is supposed to be crazy big, and no matter the camera tricks Cruise will never look 6/4 250lbs. Reacher is a regular looking guy, and a mans man, not a pretty boy metrosexual. Raecher is a loner walking the earth, kung fu style, whos personality is unlike anything Ive seen Cruise play. I just dont think Cruise can pull it off, but Im hoping for the best.
