James Mangold ended Wolverine's story in 2017's Logan, killing the character in an emotional, action-packed conclusion to Hugh Jackman's lengthy tenure as the clawed mutant. While the actor is now set to reprise the role in Deadpool 3, that movie is set before Logan, and Mangold is now busy working on another franchise with Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly (via ActioNewz.com), the filmmaker was asked how this farewell to Harrison Ford's adventurer will differ from what he delivered in the Marvel Universe five years ago.

"I'm always interested in this idea of a hero at sunset," Mangold began. "What does the hero do when the world no longer has a place for him? I find it really interesting to try to look at classical heroes through the prism of our jaundiced contemporary attitudes."

Adding that Logan was "very purposefully and intentionally grim adventure, very dramatic, and very serious," the director promises that Indiana Jones 5 will feature a vastly different tone.

"I am under no illusions that my job making an Indiana Jones film was to suddenly beat the humor out of it and turn it into some kind of dirge."

"I think that what we're trying to do is balance both an accurate and realistic appraisal of where this character would be at this time in his life, and do that honestly, and at the same time, try and carry forward what the very title of our movie promises, which is a romp and a wonderful adventure with action and chivalry and escapes by the skin of your nose and ingenious solutions to diabolical problems. This is an Indiana Jones film."

In related news, Mangold has also taken to social media to debunk composer John Williams' recent claims that he's going to be shooting a different ending to the movie soon. You can take a look at his comments below along with a new still from the movie featuring Ford's Indy alongside Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Helena.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is set to be released in theaters on June 30, 2023.

As a composer has too view the finished film then John Williams would know if there is a new ending filmed.
It almost sounds Mangold is calling one of, if not thee greatest film composer on cinema history a liar.

If so young man we Will have words.....

In Mr Williams I trust.

Mangold made a claim there weren't reshoots, then Williams contradicted that claim with a personal story of what he is doing in reality, and then Mangold called Williams a liar and calls anyone asking about it "trolls". I'm gonna go with Williams here and all the other rumors and insider gossip and say there are reshoots and Mangold is a liar.
