Yet another film has been dropped from the already busy Christmas season as Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions have moved the Kenneth Branagh helmed Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit from December 25th until January 17th. The Wolf of Wall Street will now take its spot in order to begin its Oscar run. In the UK, the action flick was set to be released on December 26th, but the studio have since confirmed that it will now open on January 31st instead. Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit stars Chris Pine, Keira Knightley and Kevin Costner and focuses on Ryan, "a young stock broker working for a billionaire in Moscow before joining the CIA. When the billionaire he is advising frames him for a terrorist plot and kidnaps his wife, Ryan must race against time to clear his name, stop the plot, and save his wife." How do you feel about this?

I have faith in Kenneth Branagh he will do this film justice and plus it's because Martin Scorsese has more pull with the studios than Kenneth Branagh

Branagh's good. Pine's a very good actor. I'm looking forward to this.
Very high hopes for WoWS as well.

That plot sounds awful, and doesn't tie into the existing Jack Ryan continuity at all. Or is this Jack Jr.?

Either way, it disturbs me deeply that the studio thinks a Jack Ryan action movie can't beat a Wall Street movie hands-down...

They are the same studio. They don't want Jack Ryan to compete with Wolf of Wall Street.
