Tom Clancy's Without Remorse is the explosive origin story of action hero John Clark, one of the most popular characters in the author's Jack Ryan universe. In this movie, when a squad of Russian soldiers kills his family in retaliation for his role in a top-secret op, Sr. Chief John Kelly (Michael B. Jordan) pursues the assassins at all costs.
Joining forces with a fellow SEAL (Jodie Turner-Smith) and a shadowy CIA agent (Jamie Bell), Kelly’s mission unwittingly exposes a covert plot that threatens to engulf the U.S. and Russia in an all-out war. Torn between personal honor and loyalty to his country, Kelly must fight his enemies without remorse if he hopes to avert disaster and reveal the powerful figures behind the conspiracy.
Directed by Stefano Sollima, the action-packed movie hits Amazon Prime Video on April 30, and we were recently present for the global press conference. Jordan is no stranger to big budget movies (he certainly saw his fair share of action in Black Panther), but admits that getting to be the lead in Without Remorse fulfilled a lifelong acting dream.
"It was fun. I’m a play-fiend. I’m an action junkie. As a kid, these were the kinds of movies I watched and always wanted to be in," he said of the movie's stunts. "The fact that I actually had an opportunity to train and do a majority of my stunts and have an incredible stunt team was great. I still worked with stunt doubles and a stunt team that made sure the sequences were safe and taught us the proper way to handle ourselves in situations."
"Clay [Donahue, stunt double] and Doug [Coleman, stunt coordinator] and everybody there allowed us to train and prepare for what we had to do on the day," Jordan added. "We got banged up during the process but it was worth it."
There are some brutal moments in the movie, so we're not surprised by that last point. This is clearly a role that the actor gave his all to, and while it's too soon to say whether we can look forward to any sequels, Without Remorse is well worth checking out this Friday (you can read our review here).
