Earlier this year, Daniel Craig finally confirmed that he'll return as 007 in the currently untitled James Bond 25 which is set to be released on November 8th, 2019. The previous instalment - Spectre - brought together plot threads which were first introduced in Casino Royale by revealing that Ernst Stavro Blofeld has been pulling the strings for all these years. However, he won't be returning.
During a recent interview about the movie, Christoph Waltz confirmed that he has no intention of coming back to the franchise (a sign that the James Bond producers have told him his services won't be required). "I’m really sad, but that’s the tradition, that there is a new…name. Sorry, but I would’ve liked to." It's possible he could be lying, of course, but this is probably for the best thinking about it.
The Blofeld reveal was extremely predictable and didn't really have much of an impact. Waltz, meanwhile, was definitely wasted in the role and taking things in a new direction will ultimately help the franchise in a big way (especially as Craig has decided to stick around rather than passing the mantle to a different actor).
