Paramount has confirmed that both Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 have been pushed back.

The next installment in the blockbuster action franchise was scheduled to hit theaters on July 23, 2021, but has now been moved to Nov. 19, 2021. The eighth film in the series, meanwhile, will now open on Nov. 4, 2022 instead of Aug. 5, 2022.

These reshuffles have also impacted some of the studio's other upcoming releases. Sci-Fi flick The Tomorrow War, which will star Guardians of the Galaxy's Chris Pratt, has taken MI7's original spot of July 23, 2021. It was scheduled to open this December. The upcoming Dungeons and Dragons reboot has also been bumped from Nov. 19, 2021 to May 27, 2022.

In addition, Paramount has taken horror-thriller Spell off its slate altogether, while Paw Patrol has been set for Aug. 20, 2021.

Mission: Impossible 7 (and 8, presumably) will see the return of Cruise (Top Gun: Maverick) as IMF ace Ethan Hunt, along with Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust, and Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn. Newcomers to the franchise include Hayley Atwell (Avengers: Endgame), Pom Klementieff (Avengers: Endgame), Shea Whigham (Joker) and Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Dark Phoenix).

Mission Impossible should be the theme for the movie industry this year

I was worried they'd delay each one by a whole year. Feel like it'll do great in thee new date, and we're still getting a Batman and a Mission Impossible film a month apart, which is pretty exciting.

Oh great. They give Dungeons and Dragons that craptastic release date. Boo.

@TheUnworthyThor - At least D&D has great directors on board. Game Night was [frick]ing awesome

Also, it opens a week before Flash now. I really hope it destroys Flash at the box office, for karma if nothing else

@tmp3 - That would be the greatest karma of all.

@BlackIceJoe - Facts. Game Night was awesome. It 2 was a [frick]ing disaster. We already know D&D will be the better movie, now it's up to the audiences to decide.
Also hope they get Magnussen for D&D, he was the MVP of Game Night with Plemons.

@tmp3 - Billy would have made a better Barry Allen too. Instead we're still stuck with Ezra and with WB not saying anything after what he did I doubt he'll be fired.

I personally didn't think It one was good either, compared to his other movie Mama.

So I'm not looking forward to Flash and that stinks because Flash is easily one of the best DC characters.

@BlackIceJoe - Fact. A Flash movie from the Game Night guys and starring Billy Magnussen would be rivaling The Batman for me in terms of hype. The turd of a team we're stuck with now, behind the camera and the lead of the film, makes me as unexcited as I was for Dark Phoenix. Serious contender for a Fant4stic-esque disaster.

Oh yeah and missing my family and all that other stuff will probably bug me some too

It's for the best for the MI franchise. They also have more time now to go through the story and decide if they can find ways to improve what they have.
