Deadline reported last night that Paramount Pictures has set release dates for the next two films in their blockbuster Mission: Impossible franchise. Mission: Impossible 7 will be out in theaters worldwide on July 23, 2021; and Mission: Impossible 8 will be out August 5, 2022

Global megastar Tom Cruise will reprise his role as ace IMF Agent Ethan Hunt and will be reunited with his Rogue Nation and Fallout director Chris McQuarrie. This will be the eleventh and twelfth collaboration between the dynamic duo. Fallout was their ninth project together and Joe Kosinski's Top Gun: Maverick, on which McQ made contributions to the screenplay, was their tenth.

In a statement following the sequel announcement, Paramount Pictures Chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos said, “We couldn’t be more excited to build on the massive success of Mission: Impossible - Fallout by reteaming with Chris and Tom on these next two films, following two successful collaborations. We’ve also enjoyed a great partnership with Skydance and David Ellison on these three most recent films and look forward to continued success together on this great franchise.

The best intentions often come back to haunt you. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT finds Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team (Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames) along with some familiar allies (Rebecca Ferguson, Michelle Monaghan) in a race against time after a mission gone wrong. Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby also join the dynamic cast with filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie returning to the helm.

Mission: Impossible - Fallout features:
Director: Chris McQuarrie
Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt
Henry Cavill as August Walker
Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell
Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn
Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust
Sean Harris as Solomon Lane
Angela Bassett as Erica Sloane
Vanessa Kirby as Alanna Mitsopolis/White Widow
Michelle Monaghan as Julia Meade
Wes Bentley as Erik
Frederick Schmidt as Zola Mitsopolis
Alec Baldwin as Alan Hunley

Kristoffer Joner as Nils Delbruuk

I think they know the franchise ends when Tom leaves. The whole Renner as the new lead thing fizzled so good thing they have him for 2 more

@Saga - I would hope that the franchise continues when Tom is ready to hang it up. I believe that Dylan O’Brien would be a worthy replacement in the franchise beyond that point. He was great in American Assassin.
