The Crow remake just wasn't meant to be.

Several directors and actors were attached to different re-adaptations of James O’Barr’s beloved graphic novel over the years, including Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, Stephen Norrington, Ryan Gosling and Channing Tatum. The most recent attempt to get a reboot off the ground had Corin Hardy at the helm and Aquaman star Jason Momoa on board as Eric Draven, but that project ultimately stalled when they both walked away to to scheduling issues, and Relatively pulled the plug.

An earlier incarnation of The Crow had enlisted F. Javier Gutierrez (Rings) to direct from a screenplay penned by Cliff Dorfman (Warrior), and Bloody Disgusting has now shared some official concept art from Bill Corso.

These designs feature the likenesses of Tom Hiddleston (Avengers, Loki) and Luke Evans (Beauty and the Beast, Dracula Untold), who were both in line to play the lead role.

“We tried to make it as faithful to the graphic novel as possible," Gutierrez tells the site. "Grounded, and with attention to detail (I wanted to show the scar). Bill is brilliant, and did an amazing job."

While some were disappointed that a reboot never saw the light of day, many feel Alex Proyas’ 1994 take on The Crow starring the late Brandon Lee did a perfect job of adapting the story, and should be left alone.
