Marveltvnews.com reported that the upcoming Hulk and the agents of SMASH cartoon, debuting early 2013, is similar in tone to the current Ultimate Spider-man cartoon. According to their sources:

- Hulk Agents of SMASH, is a bit different than Ultimate Spider-man, but still geared towards children. with very simple, under-explained plots.

- The show is described as a mindless action series, with no character development and no intelligent stories.

- Characters backgrounds are not going to be explored, but only touched upon (The site gives example of Nova, Luke Cage, Iron fist and White tiger from Ultimate Spider-man)

- While the site reports no Cut away gags, and breaking the 4th wall, there are some episodes where the characters are talking directly to the camera, as in a reality TV shows, where each member of the hulk team gives his thoughts on the plot’s situation.

The website also drops a rumor regarding Ultimate Spider-man ratings, that Marvel has so far denied to release. According to marveltvnews.com, the ratings of the most controversial Marvel cartoon are okay have been dropping since the 3rd episode "Doomed". The site claims that DisneyXD is trying to figure out if the show'initial success (rating wise) is to be attributed to the Avengers Earth's mightiest heroes, which airs right after Ultimate Spider-man, and would be testing the idea by putting Avengers EMH on short hiatus, while airing new Ultimate Spider-man episodes.

As much as I don't like USM, this article sounds like a fan just venting steam to me. I'm not prepared to write off the Hulk cartoon til I see it for myself.

Tho, I am bracing myself for the worst, cus I hated the Loeb run on Hulk.

Great. So once again Avengers EMH viewers are getting the shaft for the sake of that $hitty Ultimate Spider-Man toon. Figures. Are they really so clueless at Disney that they can't figure these things out? So put a successful show on hiatus just to see if it's the reason the failing show had some initial success. Brilliant! That should tell you all you need to know about the idiot calling the shots over there.

@teabag, remember when you were a kid, if you grew up in the 70s, 80s and early 90s, and all the cool cartoons were toy tie-ins? But then parents started complaining about then just being half hour commercials for the toys, with little substance actually being put in the shows? Then the government mandates that companies could no longer advertise to kids within the actual series and we stopped getting those cool action series?

But kids didn't give a $hit. We weren't looking for cohesive, ongoing storylines, we just liked seeing cool stuff. We were 10 years old.

After that, the goofy comedy-based shows from Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and Cartoon Network took over and kids barely got any action shows for the longest time.

The problem is that a lot of adults want shows that are aimed at kids to be aimed at them. I'm 30 years old and I love Spider-Man, but I had my Spider-Man cartoons when I was growing up. It's time for kids to have their Spider-Man. I mean, these are cartoons airing on a kids' channel in the morning.

I don't know. I just think people are getting too upset that they aren't the target of a show on Disney XD. Just let it go. Let the kids have this.

"Upcoming Hulk and the Agents of SMASH TV series is geared towards kids..."

A children's cartoon aimed at children? Who could have guessed. And the website itself, with its "insider information" sound like angry fans venting their steam over the Avengers cartoon ending--which BTW, will end with the average 52 episode length. Of course, no one will report on that because it takes research.

"the ratings of the most controversial Marvel cartoon"

Really? You're really going with this? Marvel has made far more controversial decisions than greenlighting USM and I doubt the ratings claim as well. Avengers contributing to USM's success is also doubtful, since websites like Topless Robot has reported poor ratings for The Avengers cartoon. Heck, the reason it was moved to Sunday mornings is because the show wasn't doing so hot at primetime.

And I just realized all this information is coming from your fan-site. I'm sure you're reporting this with as little bias as you can, given your past comments about USM.

Here's the link about the Avengers ratings:

http://www.toplessrobot.com/2012/04/the_avengers_cartoon_is_in_trouble_loki_sought_for.php

"Disney obviously wants a show with higher ratings, and feels that an Avengers cartoon should be doing better. I can't blame them for that."

An like I said before, the show will end with the average 52 episode length.

putting EMH on hiatus to test USM ratings?! that's f*cking bullsh*t!

"The site claims that DisneyXD is trying to figure out if the show'initial success (rating wise) is to be attributed to the Avengers Earth's mightiest heroes, which airs right after Ultimate Spider-man"

then don't cancel EMH you f*cking morons!

I'm sorry, but this just pisses me off.

If they do it right, they can completely overhaul the Ultimate Spiderman series and do it right without rebooting. Same for the Hulk Series.

But to put a widely successful show on hiatus to try and make a few turds float... Not a wise move.

Im 18 and i grew up with cartoons that were enjoyable for all ages. BTAS, Justice League, Batman Beyond, Superman, Spider-Man. That's what pisses me off. They have proven they can make shows that everyone can enjoy (even more recently with EMH)if they are gonna make cartoons for kids like Superhero squad thats fine but give the fans who grew up on your cartoons something to enjoy a little as well.

Sure, Sure....let the kids have their little Ultimate Spidey-man. Doesn't change the fact that it is (IMO) leagues below what Spectacular Spider-man was. Kids, as well as adults, enjoyed that show. Because it was Good.

I'm just sayin'.

Well if your a grown man complaining about a cartoon ( that's geared toward children) being to simple and not character driven, then maybe you should pack up your Pokemon cards, move out of your "command center" in your grandmother's basement and do something productive with yourselves. My son can't wait for this show to come out. He's doesn't care for character development and if it's a true backstory or not. He wants to see one thing and that's 30 minutes of HULK SMASH!
