There were so many things that a lot of people hated about Dragonball Evolution. One being that Oozaru was somehow Piccolo's assistant. Another issue was the way the characters appeared in the movie, such as Muten Roshi not having a beard or bald head.
Seeing that the movie has come out despite many fan objections, if you were given the chance to helm the next Dragonball movie, how would you do it?
Rules:
1) No more than 2 cast changes. Everyone hates when almost all the roles are re-cast, even if the first movie sucked. So for sake of continuity, you cannot change more than 2 cast members.
2) No breaking what has already been done. You cannot pretend something in DBE didn't happen. You can only add onto that. Such as Shenlong. You cannot change his appearance, but you can, however, make him talk since he didn't do that in the first movie.
3) Correcting misbeliefs. This would deal with the making of the Dragonballs and the fact that Goku thinks that Nameks are warmongers. Just like in the original Dragonball anime, Roshi told a story of how the Dragon Balls were created that did not have to do w/ Kami. Seeing as we are lead to believe that Roshi was not there when the Dragon Balls were created in the movie, we can assume that the Mystics creating the Dragon Balls was a cover-up story, seeing as the monks did not know their true origin. That could allow you to bring in Kami. When doing so, you can have Kami correct Goku and the monk's beliefs that Namekians are a warriar race, when in fact they are peaceful. Piccolo is just the exception.
4) Keep the same reality. You may not include any talking animals, such as Pu'ar or Oolong. You can add characters, though, such as Dr. Briefs, the head of Capsule Corp. and his wife.
5) Introduce new characters. Find a clever (or classic) way of introducing new characters that were left out of the first movie, such as Tien or Krillin.
That's pretty much it. Thanks for your participation.
