ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Will Introduce The Multiverse To The Marvel Cinematic Universe

During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Evangeline Lilly was quizzed on what's to come in Ant-Man and The Wasp and it sounds like the sequel is going to change the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a big way. Disney boss Bob Iger has already said that future Marvel movies might take place on different worlds and new time periods and introducing the concept of the Multiverse would facilitate that.

"Those characters are experts in the quantum realm," Lilly says when asked about where things go next for Hank Pym and Hope Van Dyne when we see them next. "In Ant-Man and the Wasp, they are trying everything in their power to safely enter the quantum realm and return back from it because they have evidence from the first film that Scott was able to do that. If he can do it, why can’t we?"

As for what that means for the Multiverse, the actress adds: "If we do succeed in Ant-Man and the Wasp, then that does open a whole entire new multi-verse to enter into and play around in. I’m not the story creator, so I can’t tell you what they’re going to do with that. But I definitely see the potential there." It sounds like this movie is definitely going to change the MCU in a huge way then.

Lilly then addressed her role in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 and it seems Ant-Man has a larger role than The Wasp. "I am [shooting both] but a lot less so than Paul. My character is a lot less prominent in Avengers than
his is. I’ve only done one day on Avengers thus far, and then I do some more after I wrap on Ant-Man and the Wasp, but they will come back to back. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to leave Atlanta before I start shooting the Avengers. I think I’m stuck here until the New Year."

What would you like to see from the Marvel Multiverse? As always, let us know your thoughts below.

@Ha1frican - My wish among wishes would be to get Bug introduced, but I think there's still so much bullshit red tape around his character to make that a very slim chance.

wait...didn't they already introduce the multiverse in Dr. Strange? How many movies are they going to introduce it before we do something there?

@Origame - more in-depth it seems

@Spidervision - Then I swear to [frick] I would hype out if the Raimi Spider-Man is seen in a glimpse or if the Fox-Marvel deal goes through, we get a glimpse of the X-Men team. Chances are we'll just see Paul Rudd's character from 40 Year Old Virgin and present it as an alternate Scott Lang though.

@Yaf - I have dreams of tobeys spiderman being in the mcu, anything is possible now. I BELIEVE

@Yaf - Remember j jonah jameson mentioned dr strange in spiderman 2

@Spidervision - But that's still not introducing it. It's expanding on the idea. Either it's Ant Man 2 repeating ground we already covered or they're just taking credit from Dr Strange.

@Origame - She is talking about the Multiverse as different timelines, not only different dimensions.
Origame
Origame - 11/29/2017, 4:11 AM
@LarryDee - They directly commented in Dr. Strange how there are different dimensions with an infinite number of possibilities. Instead of saying what those possibilities are, they should be EXPLORING THEM!
Ha1frican
Ha1frican - 11/29/2017, 8:23 AM
@Origame - I think they mean actual parallel universe and alternative versions of characters not just the existence of those worlds

@Yaf - This is what i have been pushing all along... Pym, Strange and the Infinity Stones are just one way to access existing universe characters from other movie studios... or reboot a character without actually rebooting him... imagine if we start following a different stark after RDJ retires and that other stark is simply from another universe?
Origame
Origame - 11/29/2017, 1:29 PM
@Ha1frican - Again, they even mentioned different earths in Dr Strange.

@Origame - They didn't really introduce the multiverse in a formal manner, they basically dropped Strange in a confusing maelstrom of trippy realities as a shock tactic. It was designed to blow our minds without actually teaching us anything about alternate universes or "worlds between worlds". The most they talk about is Dormammu's dimension. Seems like he would be a fun cameo to throw into a transdimensional heist movie...maybe one of those unlikely team-ups that Feige was talking about.

@Argetlam22 - There was still enough for us to know and the idea be actually explored elsewhere. Not just "introduced again". Nothing about this says they'll do anything with the idea other than what we've already seen.

Thats pretty cool I guess. Really thought Avengers 3 or 4 were going to introduce the multiverse, but hey at least they’re doing it!

Captain marvel having skrulls, ant man using the multiverse. I see pattern of being less main stream. Which means something happens to the main mcu.

"The possibilities are endless"

I was so happy to hear that in Doctor Strange, the doors are open or yet opening to the endless infinity of possibilities, and Marvel's embracing that. I can't wait to behold what the future of this universe might hold and bring in, i might not be ready but i certainly can't wait. Ant-Man and The Wasp's just getting more interesting and interesting by the hour, loved the first one and hope the sequel goes crazier with its concept. Gonna be awesome.
