ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Star Hannah John-Kamen Is Staying Quiet About Ghost's MCU Future

Reflecting on her experience in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Ghost in Ant-Man and The Was, Hannah John-Kamen remains surprisingly tight-lipped when asked when we could see the character again...

2018's Ant-Man and The Wasp introduced us to Ava Starr, a.k.a. Ghost. Despite being portrayed as a villain for a big chunk of the movie, we soon learned that she was a sympathetic character and someone who was in desperate need of redemption. She found that (to an extent) with the help of Janet Van Dyne, but her fate was left up in the air after the Blip left Scott Lang trapped in the Quantum Realm.

He was there to retrieve the energy needed to cure Ghost, but with no word on the character being part of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, her MCU future remains a mystery.

The Hollywood Reporter recently caught up with Hannah John-Kamen and asked how Ava is doing these days. "[Laughs] She's good. She’s very good. I won’t say anything more about her!" Clearly, the actress is hiding something, but what that is obviously remains to be seen.

When Ant-Man and The Wasp was released, some fans argued that Ghost was wasted in the sequel, but John-Kamen looks back at the experience with fondness. "Nothing beats my first day on set and just finally being there. Being in the room with all those movie stars and the sets and my costume, I look back at that and it was just the best experience. I couldn’t stop smiling and I was so welcomed. It was such a fun, free space to exercise the character."

"Everyone was amazing, but Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas and Laurence Fishburne really were my idols growing up," she continued. "I grew up with a lot of their movies, so it was definitely an honor. It was an honor to share a space, a scene and a camera with them."

If Marvel Studios is setting the stage for the Dark Avengers or Thunderbolts to assemble in the MCU, then it makes perfect sense for Ghost to be a member of that team. In the same interview, John-Kamen confirmed that she remains attached to the Red Sonja movie, so it could all depend on scheduling.

Her performance was amazing. Marvel needs to hurry up and bring her back.

Ah, yes. That character from that film. I definitely remember her motivation and plotline.

I think you mean "she remains UNsurprisingly tight-lipped when asked when we could see the character again." No sense making yourself a target for Feige's snipers.

Thought she died ?

@dragon316 - You didn't watch the film then.

@Whaley87 - To be fair, the movie wrapped up her story fairly quickly, almost literally hand-waving her problems away.

@generictheeric - "almost" being the operative word here. And the bad guys (lead by Sonny Burch) who were busted probably mentioned her, and so know there is probably a government agency somewhere in the MCU actively looking for her.

I can't remember the entire dialogue in the film regarding her, but that same agency might be looking for Dr. Bill Foster, also.

I wouldn't want to be in her position, regarding this, is what I'm implying. I would hate to be on the run.

I dug her a lot. The visuals for her powers were great and I would love to see it utilized in some bigger-scale action scenes

Could make her part of the Thunderbolts or another show, although I doubt she'll work for another SHIELD-like agency though

I forgot about her after Wasp And Ant-Man,such a memorable role.

She didn't have much space to make us like her, but I still enjoyed her appearance, action, and power set.

Can't imagine having her anywhere else, than in a Thunderbolts tv show (which I hope will happen somewhere down the line).

She was a looot better than Taskmaster.

What a waste of a great comic book villain.

I’d bet on seeing her on the team that the Contessa is putting together. If she didn’t get snapped, I wonder how she fared when all of the ones trying to help with her condition disappeared.

Do the whole movie I was just wishing that Antman would say something like “oh she can walk through stuff? Once, in a big fight, this one dude went straight through my chest when I was a giant. The trick is to not get too close”

She’s a great actress, hopefully she returns in a Thunderbolts series or something like that

I still think she should have been the character to save Scott from the Quantum Realm. The whole rat thing was a bit too "convenient" for the plot. Ghost being the one who finds him made more sense because the Pym family and Scott were gathering Quantum Energy to help find a cure for Ava.

Oh yes, that character who's a constant reminder of how great antman and the wasp could've been.

I really don't understand all this hating on Ant-Man and the Wasp??? It was entertaining. Was it the best of Marvel? No but was it a damn sight better than well meaning but laboured Eternals and that pointless Muppet Movie Shang-Chi? Absolutely!

@ZomZom - Some people look at what all is good about a film, others look at what they wanted it to be, and consequently the "hate". And the rest are probably in-between.

@LSHF So much I don't understand on this site but the man-boys struggling with their own limited view of the world, is always entertaining

@ZomZom - I'm glad you have a more positive attitude about this. I should probably use my positive attitude about these films and apply them here.

So much of the negative comments here bother me that so I have around 50% of the people blocked. I'm not saying I think I should unblock them (if and when that opportunity presents itself), because it takes way to long to read everything, so block 50% of the people saves me 50% of my time here.

But, I should at least learn to be "entertained" if I am going to read them.

Thanks for that.

I was hoping she would be addressed in Endgame. She was pretty cool and I definitely want to see more of her.

@LSHF you're welcome, I think. 50%? It would seem you have a Thanos like philosophy when it comes to site populations. I've been blocked for pointing out how humourless people are on here, sometimes. Irony and well crafted sarcasm is lost on the terminally narrow minded. I'd take being blocked as a compliment.

@Slotherin - she has a presence and did feel like a threat (at first) so played the role well. would definitely like to see again. Great eyes.
