It's probably fair to say that Phase 5 hasn't really gotten off to the best of starts!
The review embargo for Marvel Studios' Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania lifted earlier today, and while the first wave of verdicts were mixed-positive (for the most part), the critical consensus soon took a turn for the negative.
Peyton Reed's sci-fi adventure is currently sitting at 54% on Rotten Tomatoes with 121 reviews counted: "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania mostly lacks the spark of fun that elevated earlier adventures, but Jonathan Majors' Kang is a thrilling villain poised to alter the course of the MCU."
While the score will likely fluctuate over the next few days, as things stand, this makes Quantumania only the second ever Marvel Studios film to drop to "rotten" status on the popular review aggregator after 2021's Eternals (47%).
Disappointing, but the MCU has proved to be critic-proof to a large extent, and Ant-Man 3 is projected to take in as much as $280 million worldwide this weekend.
